Here’s what life looks like on the campaign trail: LaVon and I and several of our staff left home at 8 am this morning. Made phone calls from the back seat for an hour. Arrived in Emporia to meet a small group of terrific folks at Gravel City Roasters and then a radio interview. On to Newton to Prairy, an amazing cafe and general store where we met up with some terrific folks, learned about their community, and had some really delicious sandwiches we ate on the road. Next stop, Wichita. We visited Humankind, a United Methodist ministry focused on addressing housing insecurity. Then met with a great group at Wichita Brewing Company to hear their take on what's happening in Washington and what they hope for in their next Senator - followed by a local TV interview. Then met with some gifted young leaders in Sedgwick County. On to Wichita State University - wow, really impressed with their aerospace program - one of the treasures of Kansas. Finally a gathering of about 100 enthusiastic people where I shared the vision of my campaign and fielded questions. It’s a bit after 9 pm and we’re traveling I-35 back to Stilwell. Home by 11. Long day, but so good! It was really great to get to meet so many of you today! Thank you!
On the campaign trail in Emporia today! Great to meet folks and hear about their issues, and what they want from their next Senator - someone who will work to bring people together.
Campaigning today in Pittsburg - what a great day with great folks in the community! We volunteered at Wesley House, met with folks at Pitt State, visited the Community Health Center, and joined a great gathering of folks tonight.
Don't miss worship this weekend as we conclude our study of the Sermon on the Mount. My last sermon until August. The Narrow Road and the Firm Foundation. Join us!
I’ll be at Annual Conference today in Kearney, Nebraska with an amazing gathering of 800+ pastors and laity from the United Methodist churches of Kansas and Nebraska. LaVon and I will be hosting a side gathering in the Holiday Inn tonight at 8 pm for clergy and laity - a chance for me to share a bit about my Senate run and for me to hear from you your thoughts and ideas, hopes and concerns for our country. If you're attending the conference and interested, please join us!
As we observe Memorial Day, we remember with deep gratitude the men and women who gave their lives so that we might live in freedom, and we hold close the families who have carried that loss every day since.
Scripture tells us there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another. We have seen that love in them. May we live with thankfulness today, and prove ourselves worthy of their sacrifices.
Don’t miss worship this weekend as Kate Bowler shares the message based on her new book, Joyful Anyway. Kate is a four time NY Times bestselling author, cancer survivor, professor at Duke University professor, and host of the Everything Happens podcast. I’m grateful to call her my friend. Don’t miss this weekend as we celebrate Pentecost and Memorial Day with Kate Bowler!
Join us this weekend for worship as we see what Taylor Swift has to do with the Sermon on the Mount. We'll be turning to Matthew 7, we'll talk about how we respond to criticism, what Jesus says about judging others, and we'll end by focusing on the "Everest of Ethics" - the Golden Rule (along with the Silver and Platinum rules). Invite a friend and join us!
My siblings and I took our Mom to brunch yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day. For three years of my life she was a single mom, and for most of their lives. The sacrifices she made, the emotional strain she carried, the strength and grit she demonstrated to raise us is just part of what makes her our hero. She was not perfect, no one is, but what we all remember were the tireless ways she loved us, fought for us, and encouraged us. I have a file folder of notes she wrote over the years that blessed me. Now, it is harder for her to write, so she sends text messages with lots of heart emojis and I love you's.
When I look at LaVon, my wife and best friend, I see all the ways she has done these same things for our daughters and granddaughter, and for me.
Today we celebrate moms, and the mother figures in our lives (grandmothers, aunts, others) who loved us, believed in us, encouraged us and made us who we are today. The photo is of our family from Easter of this year. All but five people in this photo, would not be alive were it not for my Mom (at the center in the photo) and all of our lives have been shaped and enriched by her love.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
Tomorrow (Sunday) is Mother's Day! Join us for worship; we'll celebrate the important women in our lives, and return to the tradition of the very first Mother's Day (started in a Methodist Church) of giving white carnations to all the women. In the message we'll begin and end with moms, and in between study what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount about money and worry. Invite the important women in your life and join us for worship.
I joined Laura Coates last night on CNN to discuss how my faith calls me to stand with the hurting and the vulnerable. In Kansas right now, that means fighting for Kansans paying an extra $1.50 a gallon at the pump, for rural hospitals at risk of closing and families facing soaring health insurance premiums, and for farmers losing markets to tariffs. Kansans deserve a senator who's listening.
Our blood drive continues today at Resurrection Leawood 8 am to 8 pm (check our website for other locations). In less than 30 minutes you can save a life.
Today is also National Teacher Appreciation Day! Let the teachers in your life, or the lives of your children know that they are loved!
Our campaign is just getting started, but we’re already receiving incredible support! In just a few days, we’ve raised over $1 million from thousands of Kansans and supporters who believe in our message of listening, bringing people together, and tackling the real problems Kansas families are facing. Join our grassroots movement today!

This weekend in worship, I'll be focusing on The Lord's Prayer. It is the most prayed prayer in the world. Early Christians prayed it three times a day. Every word and phrase is rich in meaning. And this prayer, taught by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, has the power to change your life. I will be preaching through May, finishing the Sermon on the Mount sermon series, then stepping back from preaching. This will be one of my last four sermons until after the election - all focused on The Sermon on the Mount.
I was up early this morning to speak with the folks on Morning Joe about our campaign for US Senate - about what we heard from Kansans around the state on our listening tour before we launched, about how my values have shaped the kind of leader I am, and why I’m running for senate: to build bridges and bring people together.

Thank you! - Adam
For some reason Twitter has suspended our campaign account @Hamilton4Kansas this morning. We're trying to get that figured out, but in the meantime - resharing our launch video here.

This morning I announced my candidacy for US Senate from the great state of Kansas.
As your Senator, I'll do the same thing I've done as a pastor: I'll be a leader who listens, brings people together, and puts people over partisan politics.
I hope you'll join our team: https://t.co/zIAwbu2l1T
Today, I'm announcing that I'm running for the United States Senate.
I'm a fifth-generation Kansan. My family came here 147 years ago and settled in a town called Hope.
I'm running because Kansas — and our country — deserve better than what Washington has been giving us. We need leaders who put service above self, country before party, and people before politics.
I'm an independent-minded Democrat. I’ll lead by listening. And I'll be a champion for Kansas.
