@mrchrisfloyd Exactly right. Square One on @PrimeVideo is a
Much better documentary. It’s full of factual information about how the allegations against MJ played out from the beginning. Check it out!
This is a good opportunity to teach @KellyPowersBPA exactly how the Protestant reformation is responsible for the moral conundrum this country is in. You see, when protestants decided to oppose Rome, they had the opportunity to reunite with the Orthodox Church. They were even in correspondence with each other. But the reformers decided to create their own cults instead, citing Luther’s “freedom of conscience” and Sola Scriptura as proof that they could form their own completely novel sect because they believed the Holy Spirit was guiding their interpretation of the scripture and what the faith should look like. Right away, in only a few years, major reformers like Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli had such strong disagreements on doctrine that their followers almost immediately began killing each other over it. I’d like to know how Kelly would determine which of these churches truly had the Holy Spirit and was obeying God by executing other “heretics“ when they had no normative authority by which to determine who was the heretic and who was not. The reformation set two brand new precedents that we had not seen in Christian history. First, the rejection of any normative authority to determine what Christianity was and what Christians believed. Second, the idea that even Christian morality was no longer objective, but subject to the interpretation of the believer and their own individual conscience- the feeling that they are led by the Holy Spirit, and therefore no one else can challenge their beliefs. The United States was settled by people who came out of this movement and were some of the most radical reformers. We see the fruits of this in the United States today. CASE IN POINT: nobody can tell these two gay men who have just purchased a baby that it is wrong for them to do so, as long as the majority of American Christians can’t even agree on whether the Bible forbids gay marriage. For every conservative Protestant who reads the scriptures and insists that they do not permit homosexuality, you will find another LGBTQ supposed Christian who insists that other scriptures prove the Bible does not forbid it. Do you see the problem now? Who is correct? Who has the Holy Spirit? These are unfalsifiable claims, and Christian morality becomes arbitrary personal preference. We cannot even properly legislate morality because of the crumbling foundations our protestant country was built on, thanks to the reformation.
Does baptism save? 💦🤔
What does Scripture actually teach about baptism and the forgiveness of sins? 📖
TONIGHT @ 6:00pm EST, @GerhardsGhost and I will be responding to @needGod_net's critique of Lutheran baptismal theology in a live roundtable discussion.
Got to visit the home of Robert E. Howard, creater of Solomon Kane and Conan the Barbarian. His home is now a great Museum in Cross Plains, Texas! Long live the pulps!
O holy Trinity, O undivided Unity, by Thee were we created. O eternal Omnipotence, through Thee are we redeemed. O uncreated Wisdom, in Thy ineffable goodness do we wait for all comfort, salvation, and blessedness.
O God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, have mercy upon us and upon all Christendom. Abide with us in this vale of tears, and grant that, after manifold sorrows and miseries, we may with joy behold Thy eternal and heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
"Hey, whatcha reading?"
"Oh, just a book about what the Lutherans believe."
"That's neat. Which book? Is it one of the confessions?"
"Yeah, in a sense."
"What do you mean 'in a sense'? What book is it?"
"St. Paul's letter to the Galatians."
