@MrUnionYes @the_transit_guy I think it is reasonable for people to assume that when they are voting early, they shouldn't have to worry about voting earlier. Some of those other locations could have been open this weekend, at least, when it was entirely predictable that there would be more demand.

They've got a little speech with the instructions perfectly timed to end just when the ballot is ready to hand to you. It's very efficient, they're not wasting any time, because they have to give instructions either way.

@MrUnionYes @the_transit_guy They are doing the best they can with what they have, but the reality is that people are always going to procrastinate, and there shouldn't be a higher penalty for procrastination depending on where you live.

@FreddieMurky @HEAVIERTHANSOME People that say things like this also have never asked kids what the rules should be. Once they figure out you are taking them seriously, they are really pretty reasonable, maybe even stricter than adults would be.

@LiangRhea It's like that in many precincts in the US, too! It's not that we can't organize it properly, it's a deliberate choice made to discourage people from voting.

@SarahMackAttack So much of this stems from designing communities for people to drive, not walk. The infrastructure prioritizes cars over the safety of pedestrians. The vehicles are so big the driver can't even see a little kid. Because you drive everywhere, you don't know your neighbors.

@SarahMackAttack Basically, if we could somehow ban trunk or treats, I don't think this means that everybody would suddenly revert to trick or treating the old fashioned way. There are all sorts of cultural factors involved. 🤷

@mcs_phd @SarahMackAttack It was intended as an option for communities that don't have walkable neighborhoods, or where there are fewer kids and they are more scattered. I know parents who do both, because it's fun to have another opportunity to wear the costume.

Everyone is talking about how your vote is private and no one can see who you vote for.

...is it not normal to fill out your ballot and then walk across the room to the machine to feed it into, all without anything covering your ballot to hide your votes?

Our bodies are not this unknowable mystery, there is actually stuff going on which can be investigated and figured out. It's just not something that the system has prioritized. Ugh.

Then we just change what we call it based on how old you are. 🤦

Like, oh, you mean my period might be irregular and my moods might swing wildly? You don't say!

The boundaries are way more blurry than people generally think. It's not an on/off switch! 🤦‍♀️

@elrambo @tracesoffaith There are some traditions that do it and it works, but for most of us, it does not.

I think probably the closest cultural equivalent is setting and the table and serving the food. Also clearing the table and doing the dishes. Things people go to restaurants to not have to do.
