I sometimes feel we've REALLY lost our perspective lately because $112 billion in net profit in a year is an INSANE amount of money, yet Apple is saying it's forced to increase prices on consumers. We should just be so much angrier about all of this.
you can't make the office today, because it takes months of preparation beforehand and you've done none of it! not to mention the funding and the casting. YOU BLEW IT!
did you know the retirement age in the US used to be fifty years old? 50. You'd work for a company for 30 years, get a pension and retire with plenty of time left to enjoy life. Now they expect you to work to 70+. Literally until you fucking die.
They’ve tried this since the 50s, it’s called “the business school” and it’s only succeeded in making the median college student about 30 IQ points dumber on average
the amazing luck continues. found a water main leak at the house. good thing i know plumbing lol. just hope its not galvanized like the rest of the house. already know it will be because why wouldnt it?
Rainn Wilson says "The Office" probably wouldn’t be made today, telling Fox News Digital that media trends have shifted left and that cancel culture makes it difficult for edgy comedies to thrive.
Elon Musk is now a trillionaire. More specifically, his net worth is $1.2 trillion or $1200 billion. That number doesn’t even compute for most of us, so here is some helpful context:
The USDA needs $18.8 billion to feed every child in the US school system breakfast and lunch each day. Elon could pay for that 64x and still have money leftover.
The World Food Program needs $13 billion to feed the 110 million hungriest people on earth. Elon could pay for that 92x and still have money leftover.
The National Alliance to End Homelessness needs $9.6 billion to provide housing for every unhoused person in the United States. Elon could pay for that 125x and still have money leftover.
The average American teacher makes $74,495 per year. Elon could pay the annual salary of over 16 million teachers and still have money leftover.
The problem is not that we don’t have enough money. The problem is that we have built a world where one person can accumulate more wealth than the GDP of 180 countries while children go hungry, families drown in medical debt, teachers are forced to buy school supplies for their students, and people sleep on the streets.
This is a complete moral failure.
America’s worship of wealth (and its supposed meritocratic properties) and of technology and “genius” is epitomized in the reaction to Elon Musk. Why is he worth that much money? Because he’s a great inventor! How do you know he’s a great inventor? Because he’s so wealthy!
Call it “soft as fuck” if you want but one thing the World Cup always seems to do, almost as soon as it begins, is remind you that you’ll likely enjoy your life a LOT more if you welcome people in and try to have a laugh rather than being consistently aggy.
