@Magnus_9_IOI @itssavito @revenant_MMXX It's a much better 'Game' than OG FFVII.. which is incredibly braindead easy and doesn't make you explore the materia system hardly at all. But it IS a much worse STORY than FFVII.

@ceyarma_ Genuinely... I want to know (not being sarcastic) but.. ELI5 why these games are 'peak'? They all look like pretty generic action rpgs with really basic combat and no real interesting dungeon design. People often cite the music, but that's not enough for me.

@lofi_lover0930 @mordenk163828 I think a more interesting question is... what do YOU consider an RPG? What is required? And how does FFXVI meet this standard. Is it EXP and levels? If so, then Call of Duty is an RPG in the online mode because you gain levels and get upgrades from it.

@lofi_lover0930 I.. what? Fighting games aren't a genre? First Person Shooters aren't a genre? Both defined by their combat. Beyond that... Action RPGs aren't a distinct genre from Turn-Based RPGs?

@lofi_lover0930 It's more because of the complete lack of strategy... or very little customization... or any real player input. It is an 'RPG' in the most literal, shallow sense. I say this as someone who actually really liked the game.

@MythicalSinbad I played it twice. Once on apple arcade, once on PC... honestly it's pretty mid. Made me more sad than anything, playing what is the final project by two of my heroes who are far past their prime.
