• A police orderly
• Two DSS operatives
• Lifetime medical care
• 100% of their salary for life
• Two police officers to guard their residence
• Allowances for a cook, steward, driver and gardener
•Official vehicles worth ₦20 million, replaced every four years

The same benefits also applied to former deputy governors.

After assuming office, Governor Alex Otti scrapped the law, describing the five-star retirement benefits as an unnecessary burden on public funds.

We are sharing this information in the hope of locating and contacting her family as quickly as possible.

Then The Officers Took the Young Man Into the Bush, Searched His Bags, and Found Nothing. They Then Forced Him to Unlock His Phone, Saw Money in His Bank Account, and Ordered the Bus Driver to Leave Him Behind. When the Driver Refused, They Brutalized Him and Forced Him to Drive Off. I just heard a story and my body is shaking…

A 13-year old boy in Maiduguri was selling sugarcane in a wheelbarrow for his father.
Inside the scorching sun, he decided to push his wheelbarrow to a nearby tree for shade & for him to rest for a while.

As he pushed his wheelbarrow tired, he mistakenly brushed the front of a parked car & the headlamp fell off. He looked around & couldn’t find the owner. His conscience didn’t let him walk away from the car. So he waited for the owner who happened to be praying in a nearby mosque.
The owner finished his prayers & found this 13-year old boy and the damage he has done. He called the police and ordered the boy be put in prison.

Recently, this 13-year old boy just got released from prison, after spending 47 years in prison, at the age of 60 years.
At this point, I broke down in tears.
He was literally moved from one prison to the other all over Nigeria in the course of this 47 years in prison.
He only got released because a governor granted him pardon.

May Nigeria never happen to you.

I've been thinking about this almost every day.

What would it actually take to ensure every single child in the South East is in school?

I don't mean reducing the number of out-of-school children.

I mean ZERO.

I'm setting myself a target:

Zero out-of-school children in the South East within the next 24 months.

And within 4 years, I want us to drive illiteracy as close to zero as possible.

I know it sounds ambitious.

There are children out of school because of poverty. Some because of culture. Some because of religion. Some because they have to work. Others because there are barriers we've not even identified yet.

But I genuinely believe this is a problem we can solve if we stop treating it as someone else's responsibility.

So I'm asking for your help.

If you had to achieve this, what would you do?

I want practical ideas. Bold ideas. Crazy ideas. Lessons from other countries. Community-based solutions. Technology. Policy. Anything.

I'll read every suggestion.

If we can solve this in the South East, we'll create a blueprint that the rest of Nigeria and maybe even Africa can learn from.

Dave Umahi and the 5 Missing NELAN Engineers.

The firm assigned five of its best engineers to the project. They were:

• Engr. Nelson Onyemeh — Lead Consultant/CEO of NELAN Consultants, from Ihiala, Anambra State.
• Engr. Ernest Edeani — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Ikechukwu Ejiofor — From Umunya, Anambra State.
• Engr. Samuel Aneke — From Nkanu, Enugu State.
• Engr. Stanley Nwazulum — From Amawbia, Anambra State.

During the course of the project, serious tensions reportedly arose between NELAN and the Umahi administration over project control and payments. According to the families of the five engineers, the Umahi government allegedly wanted NELAN to "take a back seat" so the state could exercise direct control, issue payment certificates, and give instructions to contractors.

The then-Governor Dave Umahi reportedly wanted NELAN to sign or approve certificates of satisfactory completion for work supervised or executed by other engineers and contractors. NELAN allegedly refused, arguing that doing so would violate the AfDB contract terms, breach its professional obligations, and risk the firm, and possibly the project—being blacklisted by the AfDB.

On November 3, 2021, the five engineers left Enugu for Ebonyi State in an official Toyota Hilux (registration number ERR 001 EB) for site supervision. They never returned, and, to this day, neither they nor their remains have been found.

They are teachers from Evergreen Schools Enugu & Diamond Special College Owerri. They deserve to be celebrated. Nigerian teachers must drive cars, they must own houses as well.

Education saved China. It was education that saved the Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea & Taiwan) as well. Only education will save Nigeria. Tribalism & Religion have not worked. Why don’t you try STEM education?

If Alex Onyia can achieve such a feat in his personality capacity as an educationist, then imagine what Nigeria can achieve if we allow THE BEST OF US TO LEAD THE REST OF US!
