Absence is like a stately tree in your front yard which once welcomed you home like a stalwart friend, stretching up to the sky and sheltering you from the midday heat with its generous shade.
When you come home now your yard is empty without it and your world feels smaller.
I did receive a compliment, but I don't care. This scent makes me feel like cattle: a good obedient little drone who smells nice and pleasant because he's been safely neutered by society.
Also, the name sounds like something cooked up by AI.
Got this sample of Armani's new men's perfume: "I Will."
It is the safest, dullest, most predictable sweet modern scent you could think of: Bergamot, Cardamom, Lavender, Violet leaf, Vanilla, & Leather.
One review on Fragrantica put it best: "Goyslop."
Had a bad toothache for the past couple days. Dentist says that a tooth which previously had a root canal now needs a second root canal. I kindly asked him to refrain from rubbing his hands and licking his lips at the prospect of gouging me for another tidy thousand dollars.
Jokes aside, if the antibiotic doesn't do the job, it will be bye-bye for this tooth. At the rate that my upper teeth need fillings, root canals, (up to six now,) and crowns, unless I stumble over $10,000+ for implants, I'm likely going to be wearing dentures in 20 years.
Henri Rousseau, who died on this day in 1910, is my favourite amateur artist. He taught himself to paint when he was in his 40s, and while his depictions of people were less than stellar, no other artist has produced such varied and tactile foliage. Lots of pretty leaves.
@veronan12@Derangeddoomer This is true and has contributed to both linguistic homogenisation and extinction in equal measures. One sign of this is how people from all corners of the English-speaking world are starting to use glottal stops in words like "written" and "button," like northern Brits do.
@Derangeddoomer This hits close to home. When I was growing up, there was a beautiful wooden play structure at the local park, enclosed on all sides by the woods, with a path running through it. Now, when I take my nephews there, it is a soulless skeleton of metal and plastic.
