For a week now, 5,500 children at 400 anganwadis of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) have gone without their daily glass of milk.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which owns the Amul brand, allegedly stopped supplying the milk pouches to the anganwadis across Vadodara city on September 17 following a dispute over payments.

When practically everything else was swept away, one house remained standing.

A beautiful mint-green, two-story house in flood-hit Nepal stood firm while roaring floodwaters, mud, and debris swept across the surrounding area. Its solid foundation and structural integrity appear to have enabled it endure the fierce flood, although surrounding structures were completely demolished.

The vedio paints a vivid picture of the flash flood's overwhelming power, as well as the sturdiness of a well-built structure.

A Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team, led by its co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, was attacked while it was on its way to inspect a government school in Bagru near Jaipur on Friday.

One of the key reasons behind the team’s visit was to look into the allegation that the school was being run out of a cowshed. Last year, the school building was declared as unsafe and closed down, with entry prohibited. The students were shifted nearby to a temporary enclosure which also allegedly houses buffaloes.

The school, though, is not the only one in the state afflicted by such “structural” issues.
