चंडीगढ़ के ब्रूम वॉरियर एवं सेवानिवृत्त आईपीएस अधिकारी और डीआईजी रैंक के अधिकारी सरदार इंदरजीत सिंह सिद्धू को हाल ही में सामाजिक सेवा के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने पद्मश्री सम्मान से नवाजा था। सिद्धू को चंडीगढ़ की सड़कों की सफाई और शहर को वास्तव में सिटी ब्यूटीफुल बनाने के लिए चलाए गए स्वच्छता अभियानों के लिए जाना जाता है।

मंगलवार को अपने आवास पर बातचीत करते हुए सिद्धू ने कहा कि यह सम्मान केवल उनका नहीं, बल्कि पूरे समाज का है। उन्होंने कहा कि स्वच्छ भारत अभियान पिछले 12 वर्षों से चल रहा है और अब इसे आगे बढ़ाने की जिम्मेदारी युवा पीढ़ी की है।

सिद्धू ने बताया कि उन्हें इस सम्मान के बारे में पहले से कोई जानकारी नहीं थी। उन्होंने कहा, मुझे तो अगले दिन 27 जनवरी को अखबार से पता चला कि मुझे पद्मश्री के लिए चुना गया है। मैं काफी देर तक यही सोचता रहा कि मुझे इतना बड़ा सम्मान कैसे मिल गया।

उन्होंने आगे बताया कि सम्मान मिलने के बाद प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से कहा कि इन्होंने तो पूरा चंडीगढ़ साफ कर दिया है।

न डर रह गया है और न ही खौफ। चंडीगढ़ के सेक्टर-11 स्थित श्री कुमार मेडिकल हॉल में शनिवार को दिनदहाड़े हुई फायरिंग ने शहर की कानून-व्यवस्था पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं। हैरानी की बात यह है कि घटना स्थल से महज कुछ मीटर की दूरी पर पुलिस का नाका लगा हुआ था, इसके बावजूद हमलावर मेडिकल स्टोर के अंदर घुसे और कैशियर पर ऑटोमैटिक हथियार से ताबड़तोड़ गोलियां बरसाकर फरार हो गए।

घटना के बाद दुकान के कर्मचारियों और स्थानीय लोगों ने घायल कैशियर को तुरंत पीजीआई पहुंचाया, जहां डॉक्टरों ने उसे मृत घोषित कर दिया। गौरतलब है कि इसी सेक्टर में पुलिस थाना स्थित है, जबकि क्राइम ब्रांच का कार्यालय भी यहीं मौजूद है। इसके अलावा यह मार्केट दिन-रात लोगों से खचाखच भरी रहती है, क्योंकि पीजीआई में भर्ती मरीजों के परिजन बड़ी संख्या में यहां दवाइयां खरीदने आते हैं।

अब देखना यह होगा कि चंडीगढ़ पुलिस इस सनसनीखेज वारदात को अंजाम देने वाले हमलावरों तक कब पहुंच पाती है और शहरवासियों के मन में उठ रहे सुरक्षा संबंधी सवालों का जवाब कैसे देती है।

विश्व एलपीजी दिवस पर जनता को महंगाई का 'तोहफा', घरेलू गैस सिलेंडर 29 रुपये महंगा

पीटीआई के अनुसार, घरेलू एलपीजी सिलेंडर की कीमतों में 29 रुपये की बढ़ोतरी की गई है। इससे ठीक तीन महीने पहले, 7 मार्च को एलपीजी सिलेंडर के दामों में 60 रुपये की बढ़ोतरी हुई थी। पश्चिम एशिया में जारी संकट के कारण वैश्विक ऊर्जा आपूर्ति प्रभावित रहने के बीच तीन महीनों में यह दूसरी बड़ी बढ़ोतरी है। संशोधित दरें रविवार से प्रभावी हो गई हैं। दिलचस्प बात यह है कि यह बढ़ोतरी विश्व एलपीजी दिवस के अवसर पर की गई है। ऐसा ‘तोहफा’ जिसकी शायद देशवासियों ने उम्मीद नहीं की थी।

During the inspection, Administrator reviewed the existing facilities and emphasized the need for world class arrangements, including better spectator seating, durable sheds, smooth entry & exit systems, sanitation facilities and athlete-friendly infrastructure. He said hosting the championship is a matter of pride for Chandigarh and a major opportunity to strengthen the city’s sporting infrastructure and global sporting profile.

Indian Army, along with the Indian Air Force, civil administration and local agencies, successfully contained the massive forest fire in Kasauli after an overnight 15-hour operation.

Army troops battled challenging terrain to create firebreaks and control hotspots, while IAF helicopters carried out multiple Bambi Bucket sorties from Sukna Lake to stop the blaze from spreading across vulnerable forest areas.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, Army Commander Western Command, reviewed the operations and praised personnel for their swift response and dedication. No casualties or injuries were reported.

चंडीगढ़। सोमवार को पंजाब के राज्यपाल एवं चंडीगढ़ प्रशासक गुलाब चंद कटारिया चंडीगढ़ स्थित मलोया की तंग गलियों के बीच स्थानीय निवासियों की शिकायतें सुनने एवं उनका समाधान करने पहुंचे। इसी बीच एक व्यक्ति ने प्रशासक के सामने अपनी आर्थिक समस्या के बारे में रूबरू करवाया। उसका कहना था कि मेरा कमरा सील कर दिया है क्योंकि किराया नहीं भरा था।

प्रशासक ने पूछा कितना किराया था, उसने कहा 2 लाख 26 हजार… प्रशासक ने पूछा कब से नहीं दिया — उसने कहा 5 साल से किराया नहीं दिया। इस पर प्रशासक ने कहा कि तो अब बताओ कैसे करें… तुम्हारी तकलीफ कम ज्यादा कर सकते हैं, पर तुम 5 साल से किराया नहीं दिए तो क्या करें इसका… चलो तुम अलग से आना…

यह सिर्फ एक व्यक्ति नहीं बल्कि ऐसे अनेक मलोया निवासी समाधान शिविर में अपनी आर्थिक एवं व्यक्तिगत समस्याएं लेकर पहुंचे थे। अंत में जाते जाते प्रशासक ने कहा कि मेरी प्राथमिकता है कि किसी का अगर घर सुधारना है तो उसको दान-दक्षिणा देकर नहीं बल्कि उसके घर के बच्चों को अच्छी एजुकेशन देकर समस्या का समाधान है… बच्चों को अच्छी शिक्षा हम देंगे… अभी मलोया में शिक्षा की क्वालिटी मैं मानता हूं कि कम है लेकिन इसमें सुधार कराया जाएगा और अच्छी शिक्षा दी जाएगी… ताकि वे अच्छे से पढ़-लिखकर नौकरियां लेकर लोन चुकता करें और देश में भी योगदान दें…

इसके अलावा निवासियों ने स्वच्छता, पेयजल आपूर्ति, बिजली, सड़कें, स्ट्रीट लाइट, आवास, सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं, शिक्षा, सीवरेज, ठोस अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन तथा अन्य आधारभूत ढांचे से जुड़े कई मुद्दे भी उठाए। मलोया की पंजाब सीमा से निकटता को देखते हुए शिक्षा, खेल अवसंरचना, स्वच्छता, सुरक्षा एवं नशा मुक्ति से संबंधित विषय भी प्रमुखता से सामने आए।

चंडीगढ़। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अपील पर शुरू किए गए हर बुधवार 'नो व्हीकल डे’ अभियान के तहत बुधवार को पंजाब के राज्यपाल एवं यूटी चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक गुलाब चंद कटारिया गोल्फ कार्ट में सवार होकर सेक्टर 9 स्थित यूटी सचिवालय स्थित अपने कार्यालय पहुंचे। उनके साथ तीन अन्य गोल्फ कार्ट और एक जैमर कार भी चली। ईंधन बचत और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के संदेश को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सचिवालय में कई अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों ने भी निजी वाहनों की बजाय साइकिल, सीटीयू बसों और कार पूलिंग का इस्तेमाल किया।

According to the results announced after late night counting, Rohit Sud secured a total of 1483 votes... He defeated his main rival Senior Advocate Parminder Singh Sekhon by a margin of 96 votes to win the top post... Sekhon received 1387 votes. Besides them, Surjit Singh Swaich got 1,099 votes, Rajesh Kumar Moudgil secured 121 votes, and Anil Kumar Goyat received 69 votes...

Been going towards Mohali’s Max Hospital for the last 2 days and what I witnessed is beyond frustrating.... Let’s put this on the table...

The so called Punjab Police naka near the Chandigarh-Mohali border has turned into a complete traffic nightmare. Around 6-7 huge barricades have been placed in zig zag fashion forcing every vehicle coming from Chandigarh towards Mohali/Kharar to crawl at snail’s pace.... Buses, ambulances, daily commuters everyone stuck for no reason while cops were busy on phone calls instead of actually checking vehicles... This isn’t just an inconvenience, this is an absolute mismanagement...

The biggest issue? A hospital sits RIGHT next to this naka... Anyone coming from Chandigarh to Max Hospital first has to survive the endless jam, then take a U-turn because the road has been blocked in such a bizarre manner... And at the U-turn point? Traffic lights not working, zero traffic police to manage movement, chaos everywhere..

Imagine someone rushing in an emergency... Minutes matter there... But here people are left trapped in traffic because authorities thought putting giant barriers on a road was “management”...

Even pedestrians aren’t safe... I personally struggled crossing the road from Max Hospital towards the Gurudwara opposite it because vehicles were speeding aggressively from all sides... If a healthy adult finds it difficult what about elderly patients, attendants or someone in distress?

And when questioned, the officers deployed there casually replied “Hum toh bahar se laaye gaye hain, seniors se baat karo,” while the senior officers themselves stood busy on calls in the middle of the road as commuters suffered...

Who approved such reckless planning outside a sensitive zone like a hospital? This naka looks more like a showpiece than actual policing... Authorities need to wake up...

Absolute rubbish clarification by the @DGCAIndia... clearly an attempt to wash their hands off this incident... Do you even know the fact that one passenger (my sister-in-law) evacuated during this operation suffered multiple fractures and has been advised of a major critical surgery, and is currently admitted in the ICU at Max Hospital?

My sister-in-law was among the 198 passengers onboard #Indigo flight 6E108 from Hyderabad to Chandigarh... During the chaos and stampede like evacuation her right ankle got severely twisted and she had to be rushed to the hospital... Doctors have confirmed three multiple fractures and warned that without immediate surgery there is a 101% risk of permanent joint tear... How can the regulatory authority claim there were “no injuries” when a passenger evacuated during this operation suffered multiple fractures, was advised a major critical surgery, and is currently admitted in the hospital? This is not just misleading, but also deeply insensitive and irresponsible...

DGCA clarifies that crew onboard the Indigo A321 (Hyderabad-Chandigarh) had to use two fire extinguisher bottles to put out the fire caused by the power bank which caught fire in the seat back pouch. All 6 slides to evacuate passengers. No injuries.

Big Breaking: Panic broke out at Mohali's (Chandigarh) Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport on Tuesday around 3:30 PM when a passenger’s power bank exploded on #IndiGo flight 6E108 after landing from #Hyderabad... Smoke filled the plane and people got scared... Five passengers were injured and taken to hospital... The crew quickly used fire equipment to control the fire and avoid a bigger accident... Authorities are now checking the incident...

Due to heavy gusty winds and rain in #Chandigarh, trees have been uprooted in most sectors of the city. However, near my house in Sector 39, a tree branch fell and caused damage to our home as well as electricity wires.

Have been trying to reach Municipal Corporation Chandigarh for resolution but there is no one to listen to the complaint... On calling their toll free number, it repeatedly says that agents are busy and the call automatically disconnects after repeating it three times...

It is Sunday and I even confirmed whether complaints can be registered on holidays. Official website clearly states that complaints can be registered even on Sundays... This is truly a sorry state of affairs with MC Chandigarh.
