I have seen no evidence that ground zero was placed over a military facility, from prewar maps or aerial photographs.

@DothatDinosaur @DefensePolitics Nagasaki and Hiroshima contained military forces to some extent, as did all cities in Japan at the time, but Nagasaki contained only 9k soldiers compared to 240k Japanese civilians. Likewise Hiroshima had 40k soldiers and about 300k civilians at the time of the bombing.
