I agree, he would seldom stick up for his teammates. Also, he had a selfish style of play ie instead of using his linemates he typically had a shoot first mentality, even if he was in a low percentage scoring position. He always came across as selfish to me.
Bo Horvat was offered a fair deal. Bo Horvat wouldn’t stick up for teammates. Bo Horvat was all about Bo Horvat in his final season. If you think Bo Horvat was a good captain you have
#nohockeyknowledge
A solid no to that. He has great skills but was a terrible leader and teammate in Van. Every time he opens his mouth he becomes more unlikeable. Team spirit and chemistry have improved since QH left. I like the guys that we got in return, they even act like they want to be here!
@irfgaffar@TheFourthPeriod As a Flyers fan, I would be willing to let you have Rick Tocchet back now that the Canucks are getting a new practice facility.
@JameyBaskow Isn’t that his job as a coach, to tell when he’s overusing goalies, the matchups, the plan three four five games out??? What a fuckin joke this guy is holy shit, I feel bad for what canucks fans had to deal with
As a matter of fact he has the reputation of ruining young talent based on his time in Van. Thankfully he moved on before he messed up any more players here.
The fact that they hired Rick Tocchet in the first place should have told us the Flyers have absolutely no idea what direction they’re heading in.
Tocchet has an awful track record for winning as a head coach. And he also doesn’t have any history of developing young talent
Exactly the same script as when he coached Van. If you want to develop your young guys, you don’t want Tocchet as your coach. Van lost a few talented young guys just because Tocchet misused (or wouldn’t use) them.
@FlyersAnt Roster stinks. But the way he implements it sucks. Benching young kids with potential to play old washed up scrubs just because they are his guys. Let toch and all his guys walk he’ll never be anything in the league nothing but a PR hire. Utter disgusting look for the franchise
You are bang on. He has no desire or ability to play or develop young talent. Van lost a couple of great prospects due to RT not playing them and just about ruined a couple more. It sounds like he hasn’t changed. Also his system sucks every ounce of offence out of the team.
It may seem a little ridiculous after 52 games, but I don’t see a reason to keep Rick Tocchet as the head coach of the Flyers next season.
Fortunately, I think John Snowden (Phantoms HC) would be a worthy successor:

Tocchet has no clue how to deal with younger players. He was the cause of the Canucks giving up on a number of young players who excelled after they went elsewhere, for example Podkolzin.
As much as Rick Tocchet needs to be fired, the real truth is that hiring Rick Tocchet is an egregiously poor decision that should probably come with a firing on its own.
Briere should have to answer with his job.
No, I prefer to develop our talent instead of giving them away for nothing because Tocc wouldn’t work with them. Plus he sucked every ounce of offence and creativity out of the players in order to play his so called system. I am not sure if Foote is the answer but Tocc wasn’t.
He’s the teams leading scorer for December including these games he’s been healthy scratched.
Foote is either the greatest tank commander of all time, or completely incompetent.
