🚨 BREAKING: DeFi on Polkadot is stronger than ever!
@hydration_net smashes through $500M TVL
Calling it now: $1B TVL before year’s end
SEND IT $HDX $DOT 🚀
💥 Gavin Wood on the future of @Polkadot stablecoins:
1️⃣ Looking forward to @hydration_net’s HOLLAR — decentralized & using DOT as collateral capital.
2️⃣ Polkadot would be remiss not to have its own native stablecoin — a de facto protocol element that puts the DOT token and its stakeholders first:
Governed by Polkadot
Over-collateralized by DOT
DAI-level guarantee
3️⃣ Until a pure DOT stable exists, Gavin says he’d much prefer using HOLLAR over USDC/USDT.
But in practice (e.g. validator payouts, integrations), USDC/USDT may still need to be supported to meet users where they are.
4️⃣ Beyond a fully collateralized stable, Gavin also floats the idea of a “stable-ish” DOT asset:
Not always fully over-collateralized
Some volatility accepted
A middle ground between hyper-volatile DOT & a strict peg
A way to “soften volatility” while avoiding massive collateral costs
5️⃣ It’s a hard problem — but one worth solving.
Gavin’s core point: " Polkadot needs a native DOT-backed stable as a protocol-level guarantee, while also exploring the “stable-ish” path as a complementary innovation. Stablecoins should be treated as a strategic resource for Polkadot’s long-term sustainability. "
Sentimento melhora e demanda do varejo volta a crescer 🔥
@PolkadotLeader I believe in this too, but when will it start?? Because Polkadot needs to take advantage of this bullmarket, as we will have a lot of liquidity within the market
@PolkadotLeader We need to have adoption, and without improving the UX this will not be possible, I hope this happens soon to take advantage of this bullmarket #Polkadot
