Recently we began the New Year, I had a bit of a cold and the Eagles made an early exit from the playoffs. As a result, I’ve been thinking a lot about why it’s so important to have a GROWTH MINDSET. A growth #mindset is the belief that abilities, intelligence, and talents can be developed through effort, effective strategies, and learning (usually from challenges) over time. It contrasts with a fixed mindset, which assumes those qualities are largely innate and unchangeable. In 2026, let’s have a growth mindset and all get better this year. #GrowthMindset #MindsetMatters

#Mindset Take a beat. Sometimes holding silence and giving yourself space to think leads to better decisions, clearer communication, and fewer regrets. Pausing turns a reaction into a considered response, which is where sound judgment comes from. Even a brief pause can lower emotional reactivity and can steady thinking, so your words are more poignant and measured. Brief silence often creates mental space for higher-order processing, which supports better problem-solving and deeper insight.
Strategic pauses can even signal respect and active listening, inviting others to share more and feel heard. So, take a beat.

What is the Philadelphia City priority for 2026?
Despite some progress, Philadelphia remains the poorest big city in the nation. Recent estimates indicate roughly 300,000–340,000 Philadelphia residents live in poverty. We need an “all-hands on deck” effort to finally tackle this city wide challenge. All sectors, public, private, non-profit and academic partners must all laser focus on the effort to reduce generational poverty in Philadelphia.

To help, check out any of these organizations I. 2026:

-Project HOME is a leading Philadelphia non-profit dedicated to ending chronic homelessness and poverty
-The Promise (Philly Poverty Action Fund): A large-scale effort with city & partner involvement aiming to lift 100,000 people out of poverty by increasing income, building careers, & providing essential supports.
-United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern NJ: Focuses on early learning, literacy, & career pathways for youth & adults to create opportunity. 
Economic Empowerment & Advocacy 
-Urban League of Greater Philadelphia (ULGP): Empowers communities through housing counseling, foreclosure prevention, & reentry services. 
Food Security & Nutrition
- Philabundance: Largest hunger-relief org in the region, distributing food via partners.
Caring for Friends: Delivers meals & friendship to the homebound, homeless, & hungry.

Broad Street Ministry: Offers holistic services & hospitality to those in need.

What is ESG? How can we make a difference with sustainability and resilience? How is climate change impacting ALL of our lives?

Climate change and carbon emissions have already warmed the planet to roughly 1.3–1.5 °C above pre‑industrial levels. It has driven record-breaking years of heat (2023–2025), and is driving accelerated negative global impacts in oceans, the ice caps, weather extremes, ecosystems, and human health.

Nah, just getting ready to do the special End of Year 2025 @6abc #InsideStory “black tie” show. Although the Oscars ARE on @6abc this year. Tune in to both to get your political and entertainment fix. Those two often resemble themselves. Must watch TV all around. This show was really fun and I promise it’s lighter than most political discussions with a great panel of friends from all sides of the political spectrum and a rare civil dialogue.
