Wow. New French record, 171,000 jabs in one day. That's almost exactly the daily rate needed to hit the Fr govt's 4,000,000 target this month. But can France keep up that rate at weekends? Not likely. But it's progress all the same.

Weekly French Covid thread. It is probable that France will be placed in a 3rd lockdown in a few days. With the mood of the country turning sour – only 40% support a new “confinement”- the government faces an agonising decision with profound economic/political implications. 1/10
No French lockdown this week it appears. According to France Info Emmanuel Macron won't address the nation on Wed and no decision is expected for several days. Covid stats aren't great, though. Acute patients passed 3,000 mark tonight, highest for weeks. https://t.co/PGcauBwUlS
@shapiro_stuart By the way, there's more CBA material buried in the "climate crisis" EO -- Biden creates an "Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases" which is supposed to calculate said costs for carbon, methane, etc.
So proud of my colleagues! Their essay has been featured in @TheRegReview's 2020 Year in Review Series among the top essays of the last year! 👏👏👏 https://t.co/hsekdCpbLy

Here is my first French Covid thread of 2021. I’m a day late. I’ve crunched the stats for the last 8 days instead of 7. The average number of cases is rising steadily – 15,859, instead of 13,258 last week. However…deaths are falling and cute hospital case are stable. 1/10
