@JackySm3344@WrightNever@RichardJMurphy Oh they understand.
They like to pretend that the government has to sell gilts on the open market to fund expenditure.
That gives cover to ministers to claim that their decisions have to be“paid for”.
They could just get it directly like they did here:

BOOM! President Biden’s campaign just released this statement in response to Trump challenging Biden to golf and they absolutely DESTROYED Trump. Every American needs a to see this👇
I've seen a lot of Tory hot takes about their massive defeat over the last few days, not one of which has suggested that it was down to their venal, self-serving, arrogant, and at times completely corrupt, incompetence.
@cato_des @cakeisamadeupdr @paanfo @TheGreenParty@jon_bartley But I don’t think he’ll have the effect you think he will.
Life will improve for the majority of people in the next 5 years to the point where they won’t worry about immigrants.
And what else does Farage have?
@cato_des @cakeisamadeupdr @paanfo @TheGreenParty@jon_bartley Immigration is a contrived issue used by Farage and his merry band of fascists to whip up hatred and division.
Labour will grow the economy to reduce poverty, which is the real issue we face in the U.K. thanks to the Tories.
@cakeisamadeupdr @paanfo @TheGreenParty@jon_bartley Farage is not in government.
He has no power at all.
His role, ironically, has been to facilitate a new Labour government with 412 seats.
Or did you miss that?
@Vdweller@BlokeOnWheels It wasn’t a “coup” at all.
It was a democratic clearing out of a lot of dead wood.
Those at the BBC who are marking their card should be wary of the new broom!
@Torikit@andrewrawnsley Burnham has a much higher profile now due to his mayoralty and support for the Hillsborough victims.
But yes, a very positive outcome of all the new Labour MPs will be that new talent emerges.
First past the post may be brutal and archaic but it does often clear out dead wood.
@Torikit@andrewrawnsley I agree, Corbyn just wasn’t electable to too many.
On the other hand somebody with a bit more charisma may have got more votes. I know he’s not an MP, but I think someone like Andy Burnham would have been a good candidate.
@AlastairClimate@StephanieKelton As the economy grows, because productivity increases, so public spending can rise.
That’s not austerity, is it?
Would you not welcome further corporate investment into the U.K. economy?

@paullewismoney Take steps to boost productivity through investment as a matter of urgency.
