@Cato_secundus@Sargon_of_Akkad Nope, Holy Roman Emperor Fredrick II (who was also Fredrick I of Sicilly)
He allegedely ran such an experiment as pondered by OP.
The babies died before he got an answer.
@ReviewsPossum Forgot to add - In the film's version of the Battle of Falkirk, there is a notable exception to my statement "The English looking more armoured than their Scots foe"
A rear line of peasant reservist
Braveheart is dubious history, but it's also great cinematic story telling.
@ReviewsPossum That said, I think understand where the costume departments line of thought came from.
They wanted to show the English soldiers as more heavily armoured than their Scots foe -
@ReviewsPossum Also worth noting, while the films scale armour is probably ahistoric for the place and period (by all means prove me wrong if I am), cheap and nasty armour did exist in the middle ages for poorer to middle income soldiers who could afford better.
@ReviewsPossum Also one issue with scale/lamellar armour when it does overlap it becomes less flexiable than mail.
So that might explain the lack of overlap.
That said, the armour - which uses a lot of metal - seem to me very compromised by it gaps.
@ReviewsPossum Now I'm not aware of anything like the scale armour the English soldiers wear existing.
Since scale outside of brigandine/coat of plates was uncommon in western Europe.
And generally scale/laminar armour are meant to overlap- save with plated mail wear mail fills the gap-
@tromluii What was shocking, though, was the sheer number of victim and how profilic he was with his crimes.
Now I was surprised Rolf Harris on the other hand.
@tromluii Oh we knew was coming with Savile before he died.
I certainly heard the rumours he nouncery.
Famously John Lydon called him out in 1978.
The only people surprised where those willing to give him the benfit of the doubt for his charity work and him being "an eccentric".
