Chris' comments describe my journey as well. I was a big believer, and I even started planting trees surreptitiously in a local park, thinking I was doing my part to "help".
But being a data guy, I started looking at all of the climate change data I could find, just to better understand all of it myself. The more I looked, the more I found that the alarmist camp was playing fast and loose with the logical connections about the threat of warming. Some of the alarmists have also monkeyed around with the actual data. I went on to find out that conditions for life are getting measurably better thanks to the warming that has occurred.
I went from being a part-of-the-crowd alarmist to a skeptic, to now a warming celebrator. Periods of warming, it turns out, are associated with better crop yields, lower inflation, and lower interest rates. Periods of cooling, like the 1960s and 1970s, are associated with economic troubles and higher inflation, which leads to higher crime. Why anyone who is informed on these issues could ever want to take us back to those conditions is beyond me. Some people may be sincere but clueless, while others have to be evil. It is at least negligent for scientists and policy makers to fail to become aware of what the data actually show.
And along the way, my tree planting thing has continued, not because I think I am saving the world, but because I have come to really like trees. They make my local park and our city a more beautiful place and provide habitat for wildlife. Forest therapy (AKA "forest bathing" or shinrin yoku in Japanese) is a real thing. Walking in a forest helps take away stress.
So I have kept it up, and the trees bring me and others lots of happiness. I firmly recommend tree planting, as long as you are going to also commit yourself to watering the baby trees to get them going.
A day in the life of an English man.
Picture this, you’re in london, it costs more than you earn to live here, you slowly accumulate debt, you cant afford a holiday so you just use drugs to escape.
The weathers shit & the people that live here hate each other with a passion but you cant afford to leave.
You wake up one morning to you find out your tax is going up after ulez, the cost of living crisis, energy prices & interest rates have eat the last bit of spending money that was left from your monthly wage.
While you’re sat on the toilet reading tweets from the metropolitan police about online trolls a swat team smashes through the bathroom window, past you on the shitter & arrests your 11 year old son for shouting at a police officer.
Your sister rings you (she recently got fired from her job as a doctor for refusing to ask biological men if they are pregnant) & tells you grandma just froze to death because Keir Starmer gave her winter allowance to country on the other side of the planet that’s wealthy then us to help them with climate change.
It all gets a bit much so you go for a pint and try to relax by smoking a cigarette in the beer garden & find out its illegal & get barred.
So you decide to go for a walk to clear your mind & get violently stabbed to death.
The Guardian then plasters your face all over the news for randomly jumping on a perfectly good knife 54 times that was held by a choir boy.
Your sister tweets about it & gets nicked.
Your son comes out of prison & protests about it, but this time he shouts at a police horse, gets nicked but the prisons are too full, so they let out Ian Huntley to put him in back in.
Mad thing is, that don’t even sound far fetched now does it, its now all a perfectly believable turn of events 😂
❗️❗️HERE'S KEIR STARMER, JUST 2 MONTHS AGO ATTACKING THE TORIES FOR CONSIDERING REMOVING THE WINTER FUEL PAYMENT FOR PENSIONERS!
YESTERDAY, HE APPLAUDED HIS CHANCELLOR RACHEL REEVES FOR ACTUALLY DOING IT!
#NEVERTRUSTLABOUR
Amount of people saying “Stay & fight”, like this is some war movie. You cant fight. You cant even protest without being called racist.
& Fight who? How? The whole country is fucked, the water companies robbed us & dumped shit in the water, you can’t swim anywhere you’ll get ill & die. The country is literally a shit hole.
The councils are bankrupt & cant even fix a pot hole & charge you council tax for the privilege of doing fuck all while robbing you.
Moneys taxed, cars taxed, petrols taxed, booze, food EVERYTHING is taxed, then if you manage to save enough money after its been taxed to buy a house you get taxed on that, then if you die and pass it to your kids that gets taxed. They literally want everything from the working man while they hide their money. Its a con, we are being conned.
& We are about to get taxed even more.
NHS is fucked. Cost of living fucked. Interest rates are fucked, & we got years of it getting worse before it gets better.
Londons a hell hole & unsafe after dark. I hate it.
The men think they are women, kids are encouraged to think about their sexuality & gender.
Our soldiers are getting stabbed.
Our police are pussies & the ones that aint get fired.
& that aint even getting started on illegal immigration, thats getting worse.
If my country ever needed me to actually fight id be there, 100%, but i ain’t gambling the lifes of my three daughters in the mean time, & even if they did survive growing up here for what? To live in a shit hole full of fucking wierdo’s. No thanks.
Where would i go? Somewhere with a backbone, a bit of sun & with less risk of your kids getting murderd, like Australia, Russia or fucking North Korea.
I whole heartedly encourage anyone with young kids that have the ability to leave to do so. Todays events in Southport have rocked me to the core, im sat here looking at my daughters feeling sad.
You can still work on trying to get your voice heard while your kids are safe.
I want my kids to live not survive.
I voted Reform.
I keep seeing posts “EVERYONE WHO VOTED REFORM IS RACIST.”
I’m Polish, well, technically more Greek/Albanian than Polish. But I was born and raised in Poland.
I legally immigrated to the UK 13 years ago. I’ve always worked, sometimes multiple jobs at once. I’ve paid hundreds of thousands in taxes. I integrated into their society, learned the language, and ultimately gained British citizenship.
Over a year ago the government shut the four-star spa hotel, in the small village where I live to allocate it to “asylum seekers”. Ultimately many people lost their jobs.
I can’t go to the gym in the hotel anymore because it’s shut. My daughter can’t have swimming lessons there because the swimming pool is closed.
So-called asylum seekers don’t integrate into British culture or society. They don’t speak English. They occupy the parks and playgrounds. They are mostly young and fit men, women and children are the minority. Those young men stare at my body when walking past me. I don’t feel safe letting my daughter bike to school by herself anymore.
I don’t want my taxes to go towards illegal immigrants. I’d rather our roads be fixed, schools and hospitals have better funding. I’d rather the government look after their people first. That should be the priority of each and every government WORLDWIDE. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I don’t agree with the WEF. Whoever openly opposes their globalist agenda in my books, is a hero we need right now. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I don’t agree with gender ideology being taught at school. Children are impressionable, and their young minds can be easily manipulated, confused and swayed. There’s nothing sexual about school children, and sexual ideologies should be kept out of primary schools. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I don’t agree with the anti-meat, anti-dairy, anti-farming agendas. We need our farmers. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I don’t agree with de-banking, lockdowns, cancel culture and a cashless society. There’s a thin line between excessive government control and the erosion of our freedoms. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I wanted a pro-business and pro-entrepreneurship government. They create jobs and fuel our economy. If that makes me racist, so be it.
