Trump wants to demonize socialism because he knows that programs like universal child care and health care are popular — and it’s a threat to him and his billionaire buddies.
AOC on JD Vance: “He wants more of the same. He doesn’t want anything to change in this country. He wants to continue the reality that corruption is normal and he loves the way the country is being governed right now. He loves that you can start an illegal war and make tons of people rich and send Americans into harms way and it’ll barely be a blip on people’s radars. His vision for the future is exactly the same and your life won’t change so long that he’s in charge”
Karl: Republicans are going to make you the poster child for the Democratic Party.
Mamdani: Let them. We don’t have to ask ourselves what life looks like if a socialist wins. I won last November, and over the course of these last six months, what we’ve delivered for working people are the very things we were told were impossible.
We’ve delivered free child care for two-year-olds for the first time in New York City history. We’ve delivered tens of millions of dollars back to tenants who were taken advantage of by bad landlords. We’ve delivered 165,000 potholes being paved. And we’ve done all of these things while also delivering the lowest recorded crime in our city’s history.
That’s what it looks like to have democratic socialism. And what you’re seeing is that New Yorkers experienced this for six months and made the decision that they wanted to see more of it on the national stage as well.
8 years ago, @AOC made history.
But this movement has never been about one person. We must continue to stand firm in our commitment to fighting for working people, universal healthcare, and democracy.
A better world is possible, but only if we are willing to fight for it.
It'd be nice to have a Speaker who'd say: "And let them, we have nothing to hide, and they'll look like fools for doing it."
But what he's saying here is: They're gonna uncover a lot of stuff, and you don't want that.
THE POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT IS GETTING NERVOUS
The political establishment — Democratic and Republican — is getting nervous. So are the Oligarchs and the corporate media they own.
The world they dominate is beginning to shake beneath them. Change is coming. And they don’t like it.
What we saw on Tuesday in New York, what we are seeing all across the country, is that ordinary people are getting involved in the political process, are taking on establishment candidates, and are winning. What is particularly frightening to the establishment is that many of the candidates, and their supporters, are young. The future belongs to them and they want that future to look very different from what it is today.
It’s not complicated. Progressives and democratic socialists are winning elections because the vast majority of the American people understand that status quo politics and policies are not working. You don’t have to be a PhD in economics to know that in America today the very rich are getting much richer while the vast majority of our people are struggling to pay for the basic necessities — healthcare, housing, food, education and utilities. You don’t have to be a sociologist to realize that the younger generation will likely have a lower standard of living than their parents. You don’t need to be a political scientist to understand that we have a corrupt campaign finance system that allows billionaires and their super PACS to buy elections, undermine democracy, and protect their privileged positions.
The American people, across the political spectrum, are rejecting the establishment’s uber-capitalist ideology, value system and priorities. They want an economy and a government that works for all, not just wealthy campaign contributors.
More and more Americans refuse to accept the current reality that:
One man, Mr. Musk, owns more than three times as much wealth as the bottom half of our society. That billionaires and large profitable corporations often pay an effective tax rate lower than truck drivers or nurses. They are demanding that the billionaire class starts paying their fair share of taxes.
We are the only major country not to guarantee health care to all as a human right. They want Medicare for All.
Tens of millions of workers are earning starvation wages. They want to raise the minimum wage to a living wage and make it easier for workers to join unions.
Big Tech and the wealthiest people on earth are aggressively pushing AI and robotics, the most transformative technologies in history, without public input. They want these technologies to benefit all, not just the handful of billionaires who own the industry.
Nearly 800,000 Americans are homeless, and more than 20 million households are spending 50% or more of their limited incomes on housing. They want a freeze on rent and the construction of millions of units of low income and affordable housing.
“I run the protection program, I’ll protect you,” House Speaker Mike Johnson tells a room packed with members of the Epstein Class.
To say this on camera reflects way too much sense of impunity.
Here we go again. J.D. Vance and this administration are working to rewrite history right in front of you.
First it was the 2020 election fraud claims. All false.
Next the January 6th riot on our Capital. They told you it was basically a love fest. A peaceful crowd. Nothing serious.
Now it is Watergate.
Let me tell you exactly what happened with Watergate, because the facts matter and people forget them.
Nixon and his aides ran a criminal cover-up of the 1972 Watergate break-in. They obstructed justice. They paid hush money to the burglars to keep them quiet. They pointed the CIA and the FBI at the investigation and tried to shut it down. They used the power of the presidency to go after their political enemies.
And when Congress sent subpoenas looking for the truth, they stonewalled. People went to prison for this. Real people, at the very top. Former Attorney General John Mitchell. Chief of staff H.R. Haldeman. Domestic affairs adviser John Ehrlichman. All three convicted in 1975 for their roles in the conspiracy. Nixon walked. He never stood trial because Gerald Ford pardoned him.
It did not stop with those three. The list runs long. White House counsel John Dean. Special counsel Charles Colson. Deputy campaign director Jeb Magruder. Operatives G. Gordon Liddy, E. Howard Hunt, and James McCord. The five burglars who broke in: Bernard Barker, Virgilio González, Eugenio Martínez, Frank Sturgis, and McCord. Plumbers member Egil Krogh. Nixon's personal attorney Herbert Kalmbach. Appointments secretary Dwight Chapin. Campaign aide Fred LaRue. And that is not even all of them. Roughly forty people were convicted in connection with the scandal.
Read the above again, then stop and let all of this sink in.
The Vice President of the United States just waved off the biggest presidential corruption scandal in American history as a blip on the news cycle.
And this is how it works. When you call a crime a speedbump, you train people to stop seeing it as a crime. When you turn the people who got convicted into victims, you make the next cover-up easier to run. That is the goal. That is exactly why they do it.
That is not a renaissance. That is not a hoax. That is a record.
Do not let them paper over it. You know what happened. Say it out loud, and keep saying it.
I just did.
The ball’s in your court.
Just the Speaker of the House pledging that if you vote Republican he will continue to make sure all the corruption and criminality happening in the Trump admin will be covered up by him and his do-nothing committee chairs. https://t.co/ESI9rxdgFX
MAGA is against:
- Medicare for all
- Housing cost control
- Living wages
- Paid parental leave
- Job protection
- Unionization
How the hell do these lunatics keep winning elections telling people they are actively trying to make life worse for people?
The Acting Attorney General is a corrupt lawbreaker.
@DAGToddBlanche will be disbarred.
He will be investigated next year by Congress.
And if the fact warrant it, he will be prosecuted by a future Administration.
November is coming.
PSAKI: “You’re a Democratic Socialist yourself, how do you see it?”
🔥 @AOC: “The Republican Party’s brand is fear — if you’re not afraid of your neighbor, you’ll realize who is actually pickpocketing you: large corporations and the Trump administration. People are feared out.”
AOC on Vance/Watergate: I think what it reveals more is about what JD Vance’s vision for America is, is that he wants more of the same. He doesn't want anything to change in this country. He wants to continue the reality that corruption is banal, normal. And he loves the way that the country is being governed right now. He loves that you can start an illegal war and make tons of people rich, send Americans into harm's way, and that it'll barely be a blip in on people's radar. He loves that we can engage in record levels of corruption and get away with it. And so in that statement, it's less about the acknowledgment of the reality, but it's that his vision for the future is exactly the same, and that your life won't change if so long as he's in charge.
Mike Johnson ADMITS MAGA cronies are corrupt and there’s reason to investigate them! These guys can’t stop saying the quiet part out loud.
They know we have the power to win the midterms and they are afraid.
AOC: The Republican Party’s brand is fear. And they have to constantly churn out what they want people to be afraid of—to be afraid of socialists, to be afraid of immigrants, to be afraid of women. They constantly want Americans in fear of somebody because, if you are not afraid of someone who is your neighbor, you’re going to realize who’s actually pickpocketing you.
And that is the large corporations that are engaged in profiteering and jacking up your prices for no good reason. It’s going to be this administration that is engaged in record levels of swindling, theft, tariffs, and attacks on your housing.
And so this is kind of their new thing of the day. But I think that people are feared out. I think everyone’s nerves are shot from constantly being taught and told what country, person, or community to be afraid of. And they just want a solution. They want their groceries to be more affordable. They want to figure out how we’re going to get health care. They want our housing to get under control.
And I think that we’re ready for an affirmative vision, and we’re ready for an affirmative agenda.
