#OnTheRoad Top 5 Learnings from the Partner Marketing Community:
One of the things I love most about the partner marketing community is the genuine support we share for one another. As we wrap up the year, I wanted to contribute to that spirit by sharing my top five learnings. I hope they inspire you as much as they’ve shaped my perspective.
1. Tech Enhances Relationships, It Doesn’t Replace Them:
Despite advancements in reporting tools, data capabilities, and AI, personal relationships remain the cornerstone of successful partnerships. Leaders across the tech marketing space consistently emphasize this truth: partnerships that deliver results are built on trust, mutual respect, and human connection. Technology is a powerful enabler—but it cannot substitute the sweat equity needed to nurture relationships.
2. Say Yes and Take Risks:
This one’s tough, especially given the economic challenges we’ve faced. My heart goes out to those who’ve had a difficult year. Yet, even in challenging times, pushing ourselves to say “yes” to new ventures and take risks is vital. Personally, I tend to gravitate toward the "comfortable," but I’m challenging myself to embrace more risks in 2025. Will you join me?
3. Don’t Delegate Understanding:
Delegation is crucial for effective leadership, but delegating understanding can backfire. Whether in sales management or partnerships, relying solely on others for critical insights can leave you and your team vulnerable. This year, I reflected on my own habits and realized I need to strike a better balance—delegating tasks but not relinquishing the understanding that underpins success.
4. Have Fun:
Life is short, and while not every season allows for joy, it’s important to ensure you’re on a path to doing work you truly enjoy. I’ve had my share of tough seasons, doing what was necessary for my family and team. But ultimately, we have choices: stay on our current path or take the leap toward something that brings us fulfillment. Don’t forget to have fun along the way. I always like to say, "You have to enjoy the little things."
5. Be Kind:
It sounds simple, but in 2024, I saw firsthand how hard it can be to consistently show kindness—especially in a tough economy with layoffs, budget cuts, and other stressors. Even the kindest among us (myself included) sometimes slip. Let’s remind ourselves daily to lead with kindness, even when it’s not easy.
