@drjuliesmith Thanks so much for this post Dr Julie, I struggle with all these, but it’s often worst for me when I say “yes” and then regret it because I realise that I’m already beyond capacity and push myself beyond my limits to try fit everything into an impossibly short timeframe.
🌈 My golden rules below👇
Feel free to share ♥️
• You don’t have to start with something overwhelming. Pick something that feels challenging but manageable.
• If you can stay in the feared situation for as long as possible your body will habituate to your environment and calm over time.
• During that time use self-soothing skills to help you through it.
• The more you repeat a behaviour the more it becomes part of your comfort zone.
• Allow fear to be with you. Don’t push it away.
• Avoidance is the number one thing that feeds anxiety and makes it worse over time. So if there is something that you want to master but it makes you anxious, do it as often as you possibly can.
• Learn how to use basic skills to calm the mind through the body (see book for detailed description of this).
What is that thing you’ve been avoiding because it makes you anxious?

Our loft renovation is finished! What a fantastic job he’s done. I honestly cannot believe how different it looks and we love it. Now we just need a carpet on the stairs and blinds on the window and it’ll be ready to use! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @RickJSaville
@northernassist I booked a ticket for Friday to Sheffield but need to change the day of travel. I’ve tried doing it through the app but it won’t let me pick a day apart from the say day. Is it possible to speak with someone to get the ticket changed to 16th September 2022? 🙏🏻
