Today was Austria 2020 redux. MotoGP was very luck again. Plus of course the awesome work done by riding gear manufacturers. Di Giannantonio trying to duck through the chaos. Alex’s front wheel (with Ohlins forks popping their seals on landing) took him out. Photo via Sky Sports Insta
Steaming, at a shite event in this car park, having just lost my mates about 5 minutes before, bringing in the bells myself, surrounded by strangers. Fucking pish. You look forward to it for years. Decades. And it's this. I haven't smiled since.
Keir Starmer’s speech was sad to watch. With so many resets, even his reset button needs a reset.
But I do not take pleasure in watching the Prime Minister flounder. The country needs leadership, not another speech from a man who clearly knows something has gone badly wrong, but still can't explain why.
This is Labour’s real problem. It is not just Starmer - all the pretenders jostling for his job do not have the answers either, because they all believe the same things: more welfare, more state control, more borrowing, more regulation. They are busy arguing over who should drive the car, but the truth is they are all heading in the wrong direction. They have no vision for the future.
What we need is to get Britain working again. That is why I have proposed an alternative King’s Speech with a a clear plan to reward effort, cut the cost of government, secure our borders, rebuild industry and back families who do the right thing.
If Labour are serious about fixing the country they could do all of this tomorrow. Whether they have the bravery or the common sense to do that is a different matter.
The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare.
In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do.
And the cost?
Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.
Adrian Newey and Honda's Koji Watanabe spoke this morning in Melbourne. Newey revealed that the extreme vibrations going through to the chassis and to the drivers' fingers has led to fears of permanent nerve damage.
Alonso thinks he can only do 25 laps consecutively, Stroll (who had a wrist injury in early 2023) thinks only 15 laps. Remarkable. Story soon on @TheAthletic
Exactly 25 years ago today, I scored my first — and only — professional goal.
Contrary to what I believed at the time, goalkeepers are not allowed to handle the ball in both penalty areas.
The goal was disallowed and I was sent off — still it earned me legendary status. 😉

Lemmings turned 35 this year (a few days ago)...
Not just one of the most unique games ever, but also one of the best. When Lemmings hit the market in February 1991, it felt like a completely new concept - something never done before. At least I don’t remember any game that came even remotely close.
On top of that, it had an incredibly gorgeous style, beautiful graphics, the cutest animated pixel characters, and one of gaming history’s most recognizable soundtracks. I remember one review giving it a 99% rating with the comment that “we need to leave the 1% off so there’s room for something better - if it ever comes” (paraphrased). In all the years since, you’d have a hard time finding a more unique concept that’s also so very playable.
The early levels are super easy, basically a walk in the park, gently introducing the idea and controls. But once you reach the later levels, boy, does it get tough. It never felt unfair, though - the key was smart usage and timing of the different Lemming types. That’s why the game was also great with friends: you’d sit around the screen and try to figure out the best strategy together.
Lemmings became one of the most sold games ever on the Amiga. Deservedly so. This game is timeless and 99% perfection.
