@JuanG_Arango The important thing is that now it’s in the mainstream so hopefully it brings change. Lalas and Fox are terrible. I watched Qatar on Telemundo and I’m watching this World Cup in Telemundo. Telemundo does not show ads during the hydration btw!
For YEARS people in the US soccer media killed me for saying this. Now their mainstream is saying it. One paid a terrible price for speaking the truth, but the truth is finally out.
@yimbyman I would agree with you on that. The point I was trying to make initially is that other countries support European clubs and it’s totally normal for that to be a preference so it shouldn’t be a shocker that some US ppl wanna do the same
@yimbyman I’m Colombian too man that’s why I mentioned it. Colombia is actually a good example of local support and European support but from experience it’s mainly the Spanish league that they tend to follow. My dad grew up a Millonarios fan but he rocks heavy with Barca
@yimbyman Argentina Brazil and Germany are terrible examples, those are the 3 of the biggest footballing countries in the world it’s in their roots. Many countries with lesser leagues support top European clubs, just ask a Honduran or a Colombian what their favorite club is.
@yimbyman European clubs are deeply rooted and a part of the English community from where they are from. In the US teams are franchises, they can up and leave whenever they want, might happen with the whitecaps btw. Also IMO the MLS is not good
Landon Donovan says America is missing soccer talent because kids can’t afford to play.
“Only 2% of kids playing organized soccer in America came from households that made less than $50,000.”
“If you don’t make $50,000, your kid cannot play organized soccer.”
“Think about how many kids you’re missing out on in this country because they can’t afford to play the game.”
“There is zero chance I could have played club soccer.”
“My mom made $34,000 a year, single mom raising three kids.”
“She couldn’t pay $4,000 for me to play club. Are you kidding? She couldn’t pay $400.”
“That’s not a good system to create good players.”

🚨Full interview of Egypt's Coach Hossam Hassan at full-time:
"I will say what's on my mind regardless of the consequence, this was clearly a rigged match and the whole world saw it"
"And I want to say one more thing, if they want Argentina to win so bad, why call everyone to come and participate?"
🚨TRENDING: FIFA created a rule where making an X sign with the arms activates an anti-racism protocol.
Today, the Egyptian coach made the sign to report a case of racism committed by Argentina, but the referees ignored it and continued the game.
@RedFromUSA@usmntonly You also have to take into consideration that Henry in not fluent in English the way lalas is. Maybe he didn’t want to get into a back and forth and say something that could taken out of context. I say that with personal experiences when I speak Spanish with those fluent in it.
🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Hossam Hassan (Egypt coach): “I'm going to say what I think regardless of the consequences, this was clearly a FIXED GAME. EVERYONE SAW IT!"
"If FIFA want Argentina to win, then why do you make us come play?!"
Really a slap in the face after following this guy for nearly 10 years.
You walked off the pitch on your own. Fuck that, you stay in the field until you need to be carted off. It’s a World Cup knockout game. No heart. Shame on you.
🚨🗣️ Thibaut Courtois: "To be honest with you, Senegal are better than the USA. It was proven today."
"In the end, I understand they want to give a lot of publicity to the United States, but today I felt much more certainty that we were going to win than against Senegal."
"The kind of disrespect we received in the last few days, that the United States was going to beat us easily because we're not the same team and all that."
