@MrEfffSola The simplest explanation might be that they wanted to eliminate the use of overhead lines (frequent clipping by cranes etc; also maintenance costs) but avoid the use of supercapacitors, etc - similarly, the Disneyland Resort Line will be trialling BEMUs soon
Along with the newly constructed low level platform at Kin On Stop, the leased 3-Car Hydrogen-powered light rail vehicles will undergo series of tests on a designated route.
The above plan will provide local data for next-gen Light Rail system for MTR in Hong Kong.
Automatic Platform Gate (APG) will be installed on East Rail Line Platform 1 of Kowloon Tong Station starting from next week. Along with Fo Tan, Tai Wo and Fanling Stations, it represents full implementation of 2nd phase of the installation project.
The Ktt will have some of its rolling stocks preserved by the MTR.
One Lok2000 electric locomotive as well as three double-decker passenger compartments of various classes or types will reportedly be undergone maintenance.
This #MTRumours will be timely followed up.
We've remastered the MTR Track Diagram, referencing the work of our dear seniors in early 2010s with historical track arrangements and reserved provisions.

NOTES
Constantly updated; come back regularly if you are interested.
Not for technical use or time travel. Use official documents instead.
Most of the MTR's technical documents are written in English. English version prevails for us too.
Ir Zhang's quote is somehow similar to what we posted on fb a few days ago 🫠
However, we think that's fine as long as this metaphor can end all the excuses - so just use it, don't pay us any loyalty
Note that this 8:58am Q-Train departure from Choi Hung today was described as an additional service to the normal schedule - and running only to Tiu Keng Leng. As shown on the dynamic display screen above the train doors.

@Transit_Jam Extra: some complained on why train-to-track evacuation was selected from MTR when they could pull open PSD. We'd say it's acceptable on immediate observations that there are flying dust & risk of falling doors when evacuating... but the selected method is still implemented badly
@Transit_Jam They should be accompanied with a "standing train" on adjacent parts of Kwun Tong Line as someone observed running trains per RTHK. Very lucky nobody got lost and killed but they mustn't assume something like this 🫠 2/2
Sorry, too busy updating FB&IG for the derailment today 🥲
Uncontrolled detrainment shall also follow immediate precautionary measures, so here's our questions.
Probably a good time today to revisit many other rail proposals made last 20 years, especially South Island Line West & North Island Line.
Of course we would say some proposed ones (even those today) runs on political will... #發揮兩國之利
Excited about the rumoured transport museum mentioned in newspapers? We think it's still very sus:
- No signs of horrendous preservation in rail museum being fixed
- Probably still not standalone
- Recent records suggest it might still be upcycling-washed symbolism
Wait and see
