Why the hell would the gov pay for a foreign electrification project when their own electrification isn't even well done
Put the trade implications of this to one side... £680M is enough to fully electrify EWR off the bat. Hypocrisy in government is table stakes, but also deeply aggravating. https://t.co/1TNgvmJkM3
I’m sorry but WHY THE FUCK ARE WE DOING THIS WHEN:
- Manchester Piccadilly needs 2 new Platforms
- the Midland Mainline is not electrified yet
- Cardiff to Swansea is not electrified
- Birmingham to Shrewsbury is not electrified
- London to Birmingham via Banbury isn’t electric
Interesting experiment in Brighton. After a fire in a seafront hotel, the main road has been closed to traffic all week
3 things happened:
- no increase in congestion elsewhere in the city
- no motorists claiming their freedom has been impinged
- a fall in the volume of traffic
New trains for the Piccadilly in Germany. These will be a huge upgrade for London when they’re introduced. Hopefully feeding into a wider line and signalling upgrade in the next 5-10 years (subject to funding) 🇩🇪
