Sidney Crosby was just trying to enjoy lunch during a vacation in the Bahamas when a 10-year-old Penguins fan spotted him nearby.

After working up the courage to ask for a photo, she got much more than she expected.

Crosby posed with her, walked over to speak with the rest of the family, talked hockey and stayed for a few more pictures.

Then came the part they did not see coming.

When the family asked for their bill, they learned Crosby had already paid for their entire lunch. He also left the young fan an autograph and a handwritten note.

No cameras. No announcement. Just a quiet gesture from one of hockey’s biggest stars.

1666 Great Fire of London superimposed over modern London....

The Great Fire of London began in the early hours of September 2, 1666, in the bakery of Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane. Fueled by strong easterly winds, closely packed timber buildings, and months of unusually dry weather, the fire spread rapidly through the medieval City of London. It burned for four days before being brought under control on September 6 by creating firebreaks with gunpowder and demolishing buildings ahead of the flames.

The fire destroyed approximately 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Royal Exchange, and countless businesses and public buildings. Around 70,000 of the City's 80,000 residents were left homeless. Remarkably, contemporary records list only a handful of official deaths, though historians believe the true toll was likely much higher, as many victims were never identified or recorded.

The disaster transformed London. The rebuilt city featured wider streets, greater use of brick and stone instead of timber, and improved building regulations. Sir Christopher Wren played a central role in redesigning many landmarks, including the new St. Paul's Cathedral, completed in 1710.

The Tower of London survived because its governor ordered surrounding buildings demolished before the flames reached the fortress, creating one of the earliest large-scale firebreaks in British history.

Every single person I knew hated Neelix, and whenever he was endangered, they hoped he'd die. But the sucker made it through all 7 seasons. I salute Ethal Philips for doing a bang-up job. One of the most loathed characters from any show.

After EOD School I was assigned to Technical Escort Center, Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland. One day, I walked off post to a sub sandwich shop. Upon returning to post, a guy pulled up in a car and rolled his window down. He asked me why I wasn't in school. I was puzzled. Turns out, he was the local Truant Officer. I told him that I wasn't in school because I was in the Army. I told a friend Mike Campbell about it, and to this day, he still brings it up. I was 18 years old at that time. In this photo, I'm 19, an SP/4, and on my way to Vietnam. I guess if I looked this young at 19, I probably looked a little younger at 18 when the Truant Officer inquired. What I've realized is this -- no matter your age, if you work hard and focus on the present, you're just you. Looks and age become irrelevant.
