@politicalmath Grab a bulletin or check the parish's website. Every parish I’ve visited so far has some sort of events or groups, such as young adults, couples, or new parents. I felt the same until I started going to these events, so the system definitely needs to be improved on.
@heymikey80@lordthx1139 It’s a big point of discussion in modern corrections and criminal justice theory. So far has been left up to local legislation to make determinations; for instance one of the propositions being discussed in the Virginia legislature is to restore the right to vote in VA for felons
@LeeFoo9 Is baptism included in any of that? In John 3:5, Christ says that no one may enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of both water and the Spirit.
@DustinSmith571 My argument comes from the Gospels, and I do not see the caveats, loopholes, or contortions you speak of and do not point out. You are correct that we received a path to salvation through Christ, but to imply we can then ignore his teachings seems blasphemous. Thanks and prayers
2: You wrote a lot there. St. Peter does describe himself as equal to the apostles, in practicing humility, which Christ teaches us. In following, Paul also referred to himself as a Deacon, and the least of the apostles in his letters to the Corinthians and Ephesians.
@DustinSmith571 Your argument is based on a misunderstanding of papal infallibility and presumes that popes cannot sin or make mistakes. Infallibility only covers the teachings of the church; Luke 10:1-24 talks of this. This concept extends to the body of bisophs as a whole, when in communion.
@TuxedoM42468742 Isn’t that a non-sequitur? Just because some Catholics have opinions unrelated to the faith, doesn’t mean that all Catholics do. The same could be said for Protestants as well, who are notoriously fragmented.
@DustinSmith571 @poperespecter1 It depends on what you call “bells and whistles”. Protestants typically place the Papacy in this category, even though, in Matthew 16:18-20, Christ gave Peter the keys to the kingdom of Heaven. It’s selective reasoning and refutation of dogma and teaching that they find unpopular
@divya_venn It’s a biblical story, and prevalent in most of the Western philosophical canon, with David and Goliath and Campbell’s ‘Hero’s Journey archetypes’. It’s a type of story told to men throughout time that deeply resonates with them.
@lron_Side@JerrodBR@supertrucker@BobbyEParody By your logic, no one is allowed to turn left, since it’s the “fast lane”. Bad faith argument, you’re purposely ignoring the most important factors involved here.
@MemoryMedieval The pompous lordling doth snatch my golden grains and lavish them upon the vanquished foe, the blaspheming heretic, and the slothful knave, lest my goodwife and I beget sufficient babes to outlast the cruel winters to come!
@multi_investCA@Nero Active duty continue working, as do Reserve and National Guard soldiers who were already on orders. Not sure if they can activate other Reserve or NatGuard units post-shutdown outside of an emergency.
Basically all civs furloughed, which is a huge chunk of the support structure.
