Macrophagic Myofasciitis (MMF) A Silent Signal in Infants: Are We Missing It

Infants receive aluminum-adjuvanted vaccines in the thigh several times during the first 18 months post-natal, starting at birth. Some develop persistent nodules at the injection site which are often missed or dismissed and undocumented. These nodules may indicate Macrophagic Myofasciitis (MMF), a condition marked by aluminum-laden macrophage infiltration and linked to long-term immune and cognitive disruption. However, infants can’t report fatigue or brain fog. Parents may not recognize or know how to address any of it (nodules, fatigue or brain fog) and developmental delay may not surface for years. We must act now.

Policy Recommendations:
• Add Macrophagic Myofasciitis (MMF)to VAERS –Subcategories: (a) persistent nodules, (b) biopsy-confirmed aluminum infiltration.

• Require pediatricians to check/document nodules at every well visit (0–3 yrs)  – Yes, this increases clinical effort, but if incidence is high, it’s worth it.

• Launch MMF awareness campaign for parents & providers.

• Implement/maintain surveillance even if aluminum is removed from vaccines—policy can reverse.

• After 10 yrs(?) of data, study MMF–neurodevelopmental links.

Early detection is possible. We just aren’t looking. This could be a missing link in detecting an increased autism risk from aluminum-containing vaccines.
