"With more data at hand than theoretical projection, the evidence is overwhelming: Universal basic income is working nearly universally."

"In city after city and cohort after cohort — old, young, single parents, ex-convicts — universal basic income has improved health outcomes, raised employment, and bolstered childcare opportunities (and recipients have had consistently better outcomes than control groups)."

"Economically stable people make better neighbors. When they aren't worried about how they're going to pay their bills, they tend not to come through your window at night."

"If still more data shows that basic income is reducing the need for food assistance or housing subsidies or criminal justice systems or burdens on healthcare systems, it may be something that pays for itself."

UBI works. We know that. It will lower the costs we spend fighting the consequences of poverty and mass insecurity. Look at it as a proper investment in everyone with a high return. We can spend more up front to spend less in the future and see better results.

Governments who want to spend their money better should invest in their citizens to spend the money themselves.

I feel like I'm constantly explaining how unconditional basic income is money to do anything, not nothing, whereas typical welfare programs create an incentive to keep one's income low to keep qualifying for the benefit.

With UBI, everyone is always better off working than not.
