PAKISTAN: Amnesty International is deeply alarmed by the disturbing lynching and killing of a Sri Lankan factory manager in Sialkot, allegedly due to a blasphemy accusation. (Thread)
The terrible death of six-year-old Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, murdered by his stepmother Emma Tustin after weeks of abuse and torture, may be an outlier in terms of its sheer brutality but is unlikely to be the only case of its kind to emerge from the lockdown period.
I cannot bring myself to read anything more about the horrifying abuse, torture and murder of Arthur Labinjo Hughes. The cruelty inflicted upon him is beyond words and the thought that other vulnerable children may be being failed as he was is haunting. Rest in peace Arthur.

Heart wrenching incident in #Sialkot#Pakistan. A mob allowed to commit a cold blooded murder of a helpless man in the name of #Islam & celebrate the cruel act in streets
Not the first, won’t be the last incident as the state seems to have surrendered to perpetrators

The horrific vigilante attack on factory in Sialkot & the burning alive of Sri Lankan manager is a day of shame for Pakistan. I am overseeing the investigations & let there be no mistake all those responsible will be punished with full severity of the law. Arrests are in progress

Governments across the #MiddleEast & #NorthAfrica displayed a determination to crush protests with ruthless force & trample over the rights of 100s of 1,000s of demonstrators who took to streets to call for social justice & political reform during 2019 https://t.co/yjuW1YCtkU
As we worry about Coronavirus and Storm Dennis, spare a thought for another much less talked about tragedy: Christians in poor countries persecuted for their faith & forgotten for too long by Western foreign policy https://t.co/6sdQqDV9y4
Imagine witnessing your father or husband hauled off by a gov’t that is hostile to your #Christian faith. We’re advocating for #PastorYoucef’s freedom. Sign our petition to help us put further pressure on the #UN to work towards his release. https://t.co/hX4L7EHAdu

Every year, thousands of #Hindu & #Christian girls & young women are kidnapped in #Pakistan & forcibly married, disappearing from their families. #ForcedConversions have been going on for decades which has affected a number of families and has caused unrest amongst communities
1) Mahek Kumari case:
All religious groups in Jacobabad formed a coalition and called their workers to hold peaceful protest across city on 18Feb. case hearing. Religious leader opposed a statement of Mahek in which she said, wanted to go back to her parents

Situation of #Christians has deteriorated all over #China. The Chinese government wants to sinicize every religious ideology in the country to make beliefs, including Christianity, fall in line with their interpretation of #Communism.

In #China, yet another #Christian pastor has been arrested & sentenced to 9 years in prison. We continue to advocate for #Chinese Christians. They must be protected & free to practice their faith without fear. https://t.co/UZqHilsSdr
