8 Years Ago, I met my wife studying abroad
She was a tour guide at a Neolithic Village
I was smitten, but she had a boyfriend
With some luck & help from a message in a bottle, we met again over a year later
We’ve been together ever since ❤️
That’s why I #amwritingromance
HBU?
@elonmusk An out of touch billionaire… what are the chances?
A civilian owning a gun has no impact on policy surrounding free speech.
They are unrelated issues.
@AltHistCody The Island of the Keftiu (Crete)
Circa 1500 BCE.
(Minoans, though they wouldn’t have called themselves that… and Keftiu is the Egyptian name for them. We don’t know what they called themselves.)
What if the Mycenaeans never invaded Crete (1450 BCE)?
@Dr_TheHistories@archeohistories The Dwarfie Stane has a westerly alignment (265°) which would nearly line up with the equinox sunset. And it’s specifically oriented to line up with a notch between two hills.
It’s chambered inside is not dissimilar of the later Cairns of Orkney.
@TheaLanden I appreciate how there are instructions engraved on the steel.
“Have a Taco”
I’m pretty sure that’s in the gospel somewhere. Probably John. John loved tacos.
@stylenat_@Claramente_____ As a former Wisconsinite (now Expat in the UK)
I can confirm this is a thing in general, but especially in Wisconsin.
It’s not exclusively Cheddar… but it’s basically just cheddar. Wisconsinites love cheese, but they’ve never heard of most kinds of cheese.
@ask_aubry “A real mom”
Fuuuuck this lady.
My wife was in labour for 36 hours before we had a C-section.
It wasn’t a choice for us, but even if it had been. The absolute nerve of this lady to claim someone who had a C-section isn’t a real mom.
@RioGuadalete @juicymeatware @archeohistories Personally I prefer Kurzgesagt’s “The Human Era” which tacks on another 10,000 years to our calendar.
Marking the nomenclature HE, and BHE.
By that calendar, this would be the year 12,024.
Doing this marks the Neolithic Revolution. Which is much more global.
@double_a_larsen@Funniest_Name I don’t have the space to make my full argument here. Though your premise kinda misses the point.
The consumer is not the problem.
The problem is regulation (or a lack there of), and the airplanes themselves.
This is just unchecked capitalism.
@Funniest_Name@double_a_larsen A wealthy person flying a private jet, might have a larger carbon footprint than you or me.
Sure.
But do you know who invented the idea of a carbon footprint? Oil companies. To put the blame on us.
Posts like this completely misunderstand the tiny impact private individuals have.
@NMalone8@NoContextHumans Yeah pretty sure order of operations says you multiply before you add.
This would be 18.
If they wanted it to be zero, they would need to write it like:
(6+6+6+6) x 0 = 0
@ask_aubry Female circumcision is objectively worse.
It is a horrible practice, and it should be condemned.
But as someone who didn’t consent to male circumcision… I’ve got to say that’s not great either.
Infants should not be circumcised. Full stop. It’s barbaric.
@ask_aubry This is literally how Zeus got Danae pregnant with Perseus.
I mean sure, ha ha dumb evangelicals with bad phrasing.
But also, an unusually on the nose Greek Mythology allusion.
@Nohbdy2020@FloridianRN@PopBase And the matter is likely to go to the Federal Supreme Court, which will decide if he is able to be on the ballot nation wide. That could very well allow him on the ballot anyway.
@bigrome10189 @MunkFruitNBA @PopBase It’s unfortunately more complicated. Trump violated the 14th amendment, and he’s not eligible to run for office, yes. It should be that simple.
But this is going to go to the Supreme Court. And Trump staffed the court. So… this might be nothing.
@TheW0lfpup@hermahai@nrken19 I mean sure that’s a possibility. We don’t exactly know.
But when all of the towns, villas and palaces are torched, and the administrative language changes to that of a new people.
Usually those things mean invasion and replacement, in the archaeological record.
@hermahai@TheW0lfpup@nrken19 I’ve excavated at Mochlos in Eastern Crete which was resettled by the Mycenaeans circa 1430BCE.
There is an entire Mycenaean cemetery there.
What do you mean they never settled in eastern Crete?
