WE VOTED YES! (THREAD)
We are thrilled to share that our members have voted to ratify our new three-year collective bargaining agreement with @NYtimes… (1/3)
That wraps up tonight's livestream! Some things we've learned:
1. Union members aren't always great at word searches 🔍
2. @gaufre is a future Overwatch pro 🏆
3. When we fight, we win — both in real life and OW 🔥✊🔥
Thanks to everyone who tuned in! Goodnight!!
It's time to break your Wordle, Connections, and Crossword streak, the @NYTGuildTech is on STRIKE!
We stand with the New York Times tech workers as they fight for a fair and strong contract. Don't play any NYT games today! ✊
95% of our members voted to strike because we want fair pay, just cause, and flexible remote work, and @nytimes refused to make a deal. Management spin doesn't matter though—worker power does.
Yesterday more than 400 of us rallied outside @NYTimes to let management know we want a fair contract with just cause by the Election. It’s up to AG Sulzberger and the masthead to get it done.

One of the most offensive things we've seen from @nytimes during this contract fight is managers trying to discourage our members from striking and even providing a secret way to scab during a strike by feeding code to a contractor remotely. Union busting is disgusting!
But management still insists on an eventual five-day per week Return to Office and an insulting 1% guaranteed general wage increase. We know this is unacceptable and will keep pushing for fair compensation and a reasonable remote and hybrid work policy.
BARGAINING UPDATE: Thanks to our members’ persistence, @NYTimes management agreed to more time at the table this week. Bargaining requires compromise, and we are doing our part. We are making significant moves and were able to reach 9 TAs in the past 24 hours.
With 3 weeks to the election, we are eager to make progress at the bargaining table this afternoon.
But we are ready to strike for equitable pay, job security, and remote work protections. Tell @nytimes to come to the table! #ReadyToStrike

With just 26 days left until the election, we are extremely concerned that @nytimes management is leading the company down a dangerous path towards a preventable strike. We are ready to bargain, but management's team is still stalling.
We are here to remind the execs at @nytimes that Election Day coverage doesn't work without us. Stop the stalling, come to the table and bargain so we can get this deal done and avoid a crisis.
After only two hours, we’ve handed out all our flyers! That’s 300+ more people who know what the Times Tech Guild is fighting for, and what NYT management needs to do to avoid a strike! 🔥✊🔥
Today Hannah Yang, @nytimes Chief Growth Officer, sent out a bargaining “update” to our members, explaining that ‘While this may not be realized, currently, compensation is not and has never been guaranteed for unit members.’
