I had a very productive call this morning with Prime Minister Trudeau.

Alberta has requested assistance from the federal government to deal with the devastating wildfires.

Prime Minister Trudeau assured me that Canada would be there to support Alberta in any way possible.

Alberta has sent a letter outlining a request for assistance from Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis to Ministers Blair and Mendocino.

I just received word that the Federal Justice Minister may attempt to rescind the 1930 Natural Resources Transfer Agreement with the prairie provinces.

This would pose an unprecedented risk to national unity and Alberta condemns this federal threat in the strongest possible terms.

I will be contacting Premiers Scott Moe and Heather Stefanson to discuss next steps and call on the Prime Minister to immediately have his Justice Minister retract and apologize for these comments immediately.

We’ve charged a man and a woman who are believed to be responsible for a violent home invasion that occurred last weekend in the northwest community of Briar Hill.

Around 4:30 a.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023, police were called to the 2000 block of Briar Crescent N.W., where a family reported finding a man and a woman in their basement. The homeowner confronted the intruders and was subsequently attacked with a weapon. The homeowner fought back and the suspects fled the residence with stolen property. The female suspect used stolen vehicle keys to access the family’s vehicle and flee, while it is believed that the male suspect fled on foot. The victim received minor injuries.

Yesterday, Thursday, April 6, 2023, a search warrant was executed in the northwest community of Balmoral, and two suspects were taken into custody.

As a result, Moses Leon CARDINAL, 30, is charged with one count of break and enter.

Patricia Alexandra BALL, 34, is charged with one count of break and enter, one count of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of failure to comply with a court order, one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, one count of driving an uninsured motor vehicle and one count of operating a motor vehicle without a license.

CARDINAL and BALL are both scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have CCTV footage of where the incident occurred to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
