Dear 🇬🇧,
Do you want to understand why your NHS is collapsing? Take 7 minutes to watch this and then share with friends, family, and your MP. This assault on our health must end now.
#SOSNHS
I’m an oncologist and I love my job. But I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing our patients with cancer and I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing its workforce. https://t.co/Liv26cn8Or #ConsultantsStrike
@SayonasCarl1 @Tickettyboo2 @BBCNews You have read it wrong. The work is covered as overtime. The usual consultant work still needs covering (40+ hours per week) and this ‘extra’ will be overnight.
@BBCNews https://t.co/EKrLTpl1p4 Government recommended hourly rates for solicitors far outstrip what consultants are asking for. To cover (as overtime) for less undermines the junior doctors strike
@KevinWi03634057@jj_scup@heather_benne@peteneville65 @Lisa21816890 I don’t know any GP’s that work full time (10 sessions) including male GPs as 10 sessions is not doable and is much more that the 40 hours that it is supposed to be due to all the extra work outside the 4 hour sessions (letters, checking results, home visits etc).
@SteveBarclay You are fixing issue to facilitate 20 000 retired or semiretired to come back as compared to helping fix issue for 80,000+ who may be considering dropping sessions
.@Jeremy_Hunt knows broken NHS pensions tax is driving senior doctors out of our health service. Sign the @HCSANews petition for him to do something about it: https://t.co/qXS4bzhQjd
3/ Baroness @rosaltmann (former @Conservatives Pension Minister) continues
"This is because tax rules that were supposed to be an advantage in the workplace have become a punishment in the workplace. These are the economics of crazy house."
2/ 🧵This is based on the story in the @Telegraph. Another great quote from Baroness @rosaltmann “People in the NHS and other parts of the public sector will increasingly be pushing to retire early, rather than working longer as we need them to."
There is nothing really special about the NHS.
It’s a Public Health Service funded by taxation/social insurance, like most advanced countries.
The main reason it has been so successful is that we don’t take profit from it.
The Tories want to change that. Patients will suffer!
2/ Grant an immediate exemption for doctors to public sector pension rules which are currently forcing them to retire in their fifties in alarming numbers.
I'm a doctor. The current NHS pension rules are incredibly complicated and are causing senior doctors to retire early to avoid penalties.
@Abridgen as my MP, please will you attend @TheBMA pensions event on Weds 6 July so you can understand the problem
“The news that unvaccinated pregnant women now make up nearly 20% of England’s most critically ill Covid patients is a damning indictment of the lack of attention given to this vulnerable group as restrictions have eased” https://t.co/QbtIdtrS1e
