Subnet 9 on #bittensor just completed a 100 billion parameter pretraining run
⚪️ "We present Orion-100B: to our knowledge, the largest distributed LLM pretraining run conducted over the open internet across globally distributed infrastructure"
https://t.co/KoE063GCFJ
Orion achieved 65% the training speed of equivalent data center setups while using distributed hardware at a fraction of the cost
@IOTA_SN9 are cooking up some serious frontier shit 🔥

Amazing update! Grok would be awesome if it didn't ask for permission to do absolutely everything let alone do simple tasks without it asking the user to do it instead. Anyone else finding similar interactions with @Grok? Or is it just my config? I can run Kimi 2.6 or equivalent and it will run for a solid 30 minutes perfectly debugging.
Just tried @NousResearch Hermes Agent running on @Chutes_Ai for my API calls and it is really impressive.
Hermes is a persistent agent that lives on your own machine. Even a cheap VPS works well. It learns from experience, builds and reuses its own tools, keeps long-term memory across sessions, searches its own history, and handles complex multi-step workflows with over 40 built-in tools — web access, browser automation, vision, scheduling, sub-agents, and more.
The longer I use it, the better it gets with my specific projects and codebase.
Running it on Chutes makes it even stronger: huge context window (200k+ tokens), fast inference on strong open models, secure isolated execution, and reasonable pricing compared to the big closed providers.
No more dealing with local VRAM limits or constant model swapping. Just start it up and let it handle the tasks.
I am genuinely impressed with this setup. Big thanks to the Nous and Chutes teams for building something this solid.
If you are working on real agent workflows, this combination is worth checking out.
We can’t beat Anthropic at their own game.
We need to start thinking about training models through completely new systems; ones that out-perform and move faster.
Affine (below) is a solution: a lab that’s just a market mechanism framing the problem “you have compute, you have engineers, how do you get SOTA”
Think of it like a global incentivized auto research which pays engineers/agents who lower the loss of a model against RL environments.
In other-words, it’s an AI lab but you get paid for contributing to the run by taking the current top model and training it further.
The beauty is that we let everything else stay mutable: how you copy, how you train, how you work, where you work, your compute procurement and your algorithms.
Just push us.
Turns out that’s a very hard game to line up especially when you exist in a global permissionless system which includes a lot of people that speak Korean …
But we did it, we trained our first model family, together, that out performed our base, first one in history and just the beginning.
Come mine with us.
Most AI providers ask you to trust them with your data.
We just removed ourselves from the equation.
Today we're shipping end-to-end encryption for AI inference on Chutes.
Here's what that actually means:
Zoom out.
Seen this a number of times. Bull markets attract the most unsavory of people. They build casinos, ponzis and financial schemes. The market punishes us.
Next, those people, those scammers leave. Bitcoin goes back to being real. Crypto takes a breath of fresh air, the builders keep building and cycle begins again.
That cycle literally *is* the technology. A monetary system that reacts and sheds itself.
If it were any different it would be a stultified cabal that stays ugly for ever. It can’t. That’s what is good about it.
When you understand technically what was built with Bitcoin. You’ll understand it doesn’t matter if Epstein funded the core developers. It doesn’t matter if Satan himself runs the nodes, made a DAT, or wrote the code.
The structure or Bitcoin is itself Good and decentralized, and fair.
The need for this monetary revolution didn’t end with a price drop and indeed we need it now more than ever.

Starship’s heat shield is one of the most advanced reusable tiles systems flying today
Starship uses ~18,000 standardized hexagonal ceramic tiles on its windward side - minimizing unique parts and simplifying mass production
The tiles are silica-based ceramics with a high-emissivity black coating, designed to survive extreme re-entry heat while radiating energy away
Unlike the Space Shuttle, Starship’s tiles are mechanically pinned, not bonded.... allowing thermal expansion, fast replacement, and far better robustness
The entire system is engineered for rapid reuse with minimal refurbishment, a requirement for high-flight-rate, fully reusable spacecraft
The rockets that SpaceX is building are fully reusable Starships. When they re-enter Earth's atmosphere, they endure temperatures hotter than molten lava
To handle this, the SpaceX team engineered a custom heat shield system
SpaceX is building hundreds of Starships in parallel. This flap is getting its tiles installed right now
Exactly the world $TAO was built for.
Nvidia just dropped Rubin at CES: rack-scale AI factories that make inference dirt cheap and massively scalable.
Now: thousands of specialized models + agent swarms running in real time.
Cheaper tokens.
Explosion of fine-tuned, composable intelligence on open markets.
$TAO optimizes for permissionless proliferation.
Rubin isn't competing with Bittensor.
It's the wind at its back.
Adoption wave incoming 2026.

2026 is already becoming Bittensor's Year of Integration.
There are no explicit incentives for teams to work together. It's just happening.
"survival of the fittest" -> "survival of the collaborative"
Yes, Bittensor can be difficult to understand, but as Sami pointed out, Bitcoin was also challenging to grasp initially. Take some time to study it :)
I recently dropped a new documentary 'The Incentive Layer' that explains how bittensor works, perhaps worth a watch for those interested in learning about bittensor.
