#HamOnt I’m absolutely thrilled to bring Shai Rally Day to the @cityofhamilton!

This is our city’s official celebration of NBA Champion, NBA MVP, NBA Finals MVP, NBA Scoring Champion, ESPY Best Athlete – Men’s Sports, and proud Hamiltonian, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. 

Shai has made history as the first Canadian to win NBA Finals MVP, the first to lead the league in scoring, and only the second Canadian to earn regular season MVP. He’s also one of just four players in NBA history to win all four major titles in a single season - and now, he’s been recognized on the world stage with the 2025 ESPY Best Athlete - Men's Sports.

As part of this celebration, I am proud to be presenting Shai with the Key to the City, the first such honour bestowed by a Mayor of Hamilton since 1998. It’s a symbolic gesture of the deep pride and admiration Hamilton holds for one of its own.

This free community rally is our way of showing Shai just how proud we are of his incredible accomplishments, and the way he continues to carry Hamilton with him on the global stage. 

It’s going to be an unforgettable day in our city - and I hope to see you there!

#HamOnt I am absolutely thrilled to welcome @porterairlines to Hamilton’s John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport @flyyhm and to see Vantage Group’s continued investment to enhance passenger facilities.

This is a major win for the @cityofhamilton and will significantly transform our airport’s passenger service offerings.

For years, the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport has been home to Canada’s largest domestic overnight express cargo service, fueling our community's economic growth and creating jobs.

Hamiltonians have also longed for more robust passenger options to serve travellers from our city and surrounding communities.

The strategic partnership between Porter Airlines and Vantage Group/TradePort, with whom the city recently completed a successful long-term lease renewal, is a significant investment that will rejuvenate and boost passenger services and will benefit residents, businesses, and the broader region for decades to come!
