@ForestHills1903@gorbalsgoebbels He had 2 choices sack Reeves & reverse her decisions
& risk another Truss size crisis,or give her time to turn things around. His new amateur MPs were afraid of losing their jobs, his cabinet wanted promotion on little merit,Burnham's ego was gigantic &
Reform overestimated
@RpsAgainstTrump So he thinks Marx was writing thousands of years ago. Or he thinks BC was Before Communism and/or Communism was led by Jesus and the disciples??
@RpsAgainstTrump Vance seems to have been picked for VP as hes probably the worst person in America for the job. That helps protect Trump from removal for being totally incapable or breaking the law. Problem is how to stop Vance getting the job if Trump dies.
@RpsAgainstTrump Its not Lebanon and Israel cant agree. They agree Hezbollah have to go. Its Hezbollah,Iran's puppet, that keeps on firing missiles at Israel.
Trump meanwhile thinks he has done a deal with reasonable Iranians only for Rubio to point out theres no reasonable fundamentalists.
@richenergyceo@Keir_Starmer@RachelReevesMP Nor is Makerfield a guide. Its a seat that heavily backed Reform in local elections, but didnt suffer from the problems Farage majors on. They soon abandoned Reform when picking a MP. Pleasing Makerfields by throwing £s at them is just a recipe for losing 2024 gains elsewhere.
@hotwings100 Not to mention we have a guy who has not been in a cabinet for 16 years & has zero relevant experience, taking over our foreign policy -when the Ukraine war is reaching its climax, Putin and Trump are both crazy & Putin has few options left. Its irresponsible & very dangerous
@MathsladyScott@ClareTa97789912 & work up a policy for when money is less tight. In time for Starmer to retire in 28 when he's actually near to retirement age .
As it is they have a novice running war and peace & two ministers with dire records, with the public , at NHS & Net zero. probably being promoted.
@HamishMaclaine@ClareTa97789912 The reality with pledges is that some , particularly economic ones to avoid a Truss crash rerun, clash with others. Some pledges are must do, some are do if possible, some depend on more important issues not turning up. Party members need to understand that. Not panic mid term.
@HamishMaclaine@ClareTa97789912 No not really. The biggest threat to the UK and world peace was=is Trump.Sending an ambassador who Trump knew and liked was an intelligent move given Trump's contempt for diplomats.
The fault was in discovering just how close Mandelson was to Epstein too late .
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA Even Trump can get it right once a decade.
Spain seems to have gone heavily far left & antisemitic & in NATO is letting others defend it and not paying its share . Not joining in Trump's hopeless war was sense, freeloading isnt acceptable .
@likesretirement Indeed, one of the most idiotic arguments against Starmer was he was away a lot. It might have something to do with him spending a lot of time in international meetings on Russia & the Ukraine War ,peace & potential nuclear wars are clearly more important than tea drinking.
@mirminx@keirstarmer@vonderleyen Indeed they did it when he was playing a major role responding to/containing a Russian threat. One that may become a full scale crisis as Russia loses
& they did it for a man with no cabinet experience in 16 years with a 10 year plan no one has seen and can't deliver by 2028/29.
@meanbeany@bmay@sales_belinda Few possibilities. Reeves did what the Treasury told her -will her successor cause a crisis by not doing that? Starmer spent a lot of time on war and peace issues - not doing that could be suicidal.& what's the use of Burnham having a 10 year plan when the election is in 2028/9?
@bri_fiona@bmay Not if Burnham's 10 year plan means taxing other areas more. That means goodbye to lots of 2024 Labour gains. Makerfield was also odd.Why did it have so many Reform voters when it doesnt have the issues Reform recruits on? Beating Reform may be more difficult elsewhere.
@neheritagelib Starmers problem was that he didn't over rule Reeves on key tax proposals or spending needs.
We may now get to see what happens if you ignore the Treasury and markets for a 10 year plan no one has seen and won't produce results till years after the next election.
@RachelMoiselle Partly due to inexperienced new MPs panicking mid term. Also due to a ridiculous idea that someone who ran off & spent 16 years outside government knows anything about the key current issues, let alone the vital war & peace one. I can beat Farage where I am mayor isnt convincing
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA He has a problem both with saying what's true and grammar.
More oil might have moved but only because he caused it not to be able to leave before.
Millions Barrels is just wrong.
Flowed out has an unfortunate alternative meaning.
And then there's those CAPITAL LETTERs
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA Total Trump nonsense.Iran isn't covered by the NATO treaty. He had no plan, no clear objective, deployed far too few forces, and had no hope of success. Just because he wanted to do something stupid there was no reason why any ally should help him,and fail too.
@psybertron Ukraine war is moving to a potential climax.Ukraine is isolating the battlefield &hitting military targets deep in Russia leaving Russians unable to ignore what they see. Putinm has lost but cant accept it. We need someone with Starmers skills to get us through a rising danger.
@thesoopabees Nothing. He won in 2024 and put a lot of new MPs with no political understanding into the HofC -they panicked. His only problem when you discount the Reform nonsense was that he allowed Reeves to do what the Treasury told her to- however stupid or politically damaging.
