❗️ Hungary lifts veto on Ukraine’s accession bid.
Hungary has reached an agreement with Ukraine regarding the expansion of the rights of the Hungarian minority, @magyarpeterMP announced.
precisely because things are not going well for him in Ukraine, and certainly as a result of all the encouragement he gets from Trump’s military withdrawals from Europe and NATO-bashing. 4/4
#Romania#DroneAttack: #NATO apparently has no other reaction than outrage in words but reticence in action. NATO will not respond in kind, for example a with a single missile or drone fired at the base from which the Russian one was launched. 1/4
This is beginning to seriously undermine NATO’s repeated claims that ‘every square inch of alliance territory will be defended’. And this is happening while signs are growing of Putin planning a larger provocation against NATO itself, 3/4
We promised to bring home the frozen EU funds. Today, we delivered.
Following the agreement reached with the European Commission, Prime Minister Péter Magyar and President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed what Hungarians have been waiting for: Hungary will receive €16.4 billion in recovery and cohesion funds it is entitled to.
This is a historic moment and the fulfillment of our campaign’s most important pledge. We stood firm, defended Hungary’s interests, and achieved results.
Hungary first. Always.
🇺🇸 cutting its naval and airborne strike capacities in Europe by 50% is not just a huge gift for #Putin. It will also prolong 🇷🇺 war of aggression in 🇺🇦 b/c it rekindles Putin’s hope for a weaker & more divided West. So more death & destruction, as a direct result.
“The Pentagon said a couple of days ago that U.S. troops in Europe, no matter what size, may not fully be available for deterring or fighting a possible Russian attack. That is alarming,” said the Co-Founder of the Brussels Freedom Hub, Roland [@RoFreudenstein], joining Aaron Dahmen [@dahmenaaron] and Marcin Zaborowski in the latest episode of World Brief.
Poland is celebrating 5,000 additional US troops. Before the champagne, two questions worth asking.
First: are these actually additional? The US commander in Europe said this week that American posture on the continent is moving in one direction, and it is not up. The most likely explanation is that these are Germany's losses redirected to Poland, announced as a gift. A larger slice of a shrinking pie is not reinforcement.
Second, and more importantly: Trump said the deployment was based on his personal relationship with Nawrocki. That framing is truly alarming. NATO's deterrence works because it is institutional and automatic. A guarantee underwritten by personal chemistry between two temporary office holders is not a guarantee. It is a favour.
Favours can easily be withdrawn and personal relationships between heads of state are precisely the kind of target Russian disinformation can target.
"Russia's aggression to Ukraine could not have continued for four years now without the direct support – not in weapons, but in dual use goods and financial support and the buying of fossil fuels – from Russia by China," Roland Freudenstein [@RoFreudenstein], Co-founder of Brussels Freedom Hub, said on the latest episode of Wider View with Marcin Zaborowski [@MaZaborowski].
Zbigniew Ziobro was one of the authors of the attempt to transform Poland into an authoritarian regime. Ziobro is a wanted man with no passport. The Trump White House just went to a good deal of trouble to bring him to the US.

The most popular joke in 🇭🇺A man comes to the Prime Minister’s office, knocks, walks up to security and says:
— Good afternoon! I’d like to speak with Viktor Orbán.
— He doesn’t work here anymore.
— I see…,” the man says as he leaves, but a minute later he comes back.
— Good afternoon! I’d like to speak with Viktor Orbán.
— Sir, I already told you! He doesn’t work here anymore!
— I understand…,” the man says. “It’s just so nice to hear it.”
Goosebumps ! A lot of us were moved by the short extract of gay, Romani singer Ibolya Oláh singing in front of the Parliament in Budapest on Saturday. Her voice alone is haunting. It's even more moving when you know what she's singing !
So I did my best to subtitle it with help from my dear friend Madeleine who, as a young girl in 1956 Budapest, was told by her father she had 15 minutes to pack before the Russian tanks rolled in. They got out and she grew up in Canada. She was, as you can imagine, deeply moved to hear this ...
This. With special regards to all the #AltRight ppl who, upon #Orbán’s election night concession, were shouting “See? Hungary is not, and has never been, an #autocracy! It’s always been a full democracy.” - Well, no. Ask all of my Hungarian friends.
🇭🇺 Hungary's new PM Péter Magyar, in his first speech, apologizes to victims of the Orbán government's smear campaigns and harassment — journalists, civil society, public figures. For 16 years, dozens of us endured surveillance, lawsuits and pressure. A timely, welcomed gesture.
@PeterBDoran In return for the #StrykerBrigade coming to 🇵🇱 (or not, if #Putin talks #Trump out of it 🤣🤣🤣), #PiS sends political refugee #ZbigniewZiobro from 🇭🇺 (where liberal dictator #Magyar will now also persecute him) to 🇺🇸 where he is safe from #Tusk’s henchmen - until 2029 🤞
