IRL Streaming App for Android

In early Alpha, seeking user feedback
Search for "Roam Live" on Google Play Store
Some much appreciated feedback from a driving streamer (Guywickz) who has been testing Roam Live for almost 2 weeks now, and who has been streaming for a long time.

@mike_rosinsky With Twitch, you open a websocket to the IRC server and it joins just by typing in the channel name.
I'm glad enterprise is no longer required, but whitelisting every app is still a hindrance. Are there no plans to make X chat open/easier to integrate?

@mike_rosinsky It's like the time x banned external links to certain platforms. If you want people to use your site why would you make it harder for them to move over to your site. I'm not going to live stream on a site I can't integrate into my current live stream where my current audience is.
@mike_rosinsky I don't mean reading your own chat within x, I mean being able to open my phone, open an app, and live stream to x and read chat, or multi stream + multi chat. Not possible without enterprise plan which is so insanely silly if you want people to move to x

Getting chat into your app:
Twitch: Here's everything you need.
YouTube: Use our rate-limited API. Half of it doesn't work.
X: Fill out this Google Form. Enterprise plan only.
Kick: Run a public server, we'll webhook you each message. Our site uses a websocket but you can't.
Like why make it hard for people to use your site? I really disliked twitch, but after making this app, honestly all I want to use (And will use) is twitch now given how easy they made it to do things. Unfortunately, twitch is the best live streaming platform out right now.

I'll be honest, at the end of the day, if one of those apps can do everything I need, and does it better than my app, I'll leave my app for theirs. I'm not getting anything out of this other than an app that's built the way I want it, in fact it's a pain/costly to maintain 🤣
The irony is not lost on me that I spent almost a year building this app because there were no other good android apps for IRL streaming at the time, or heck even a month ago.
Only for like 4 big brands to release their android live streaming apps in the last few weeks.
@MBT1980@REALIcePoseidon tbh I haven't tried it in some time so I can't remember, I went through a period where I tested every app I could find and none of them did what I wanted, but that was maybe almost a year ago. I know they've improved since, but the watermark alone would bug me.
@MBT1980@REALIcePoseidon Fair if it's just a matter of not trusting the developers. When I tested IRL Pro I found it was lacking and out dated, so while it's not broke, it's definitely not perfected either, and PRISM Live has it's own issues too imo. I've seen two other new android apps for IRL this week
@ItsDrDamon@crashoverride@MAGGOTisBLESSED So the connection is the easy part, getting the audio and video in sync and everything working well is the hard part. What is your current set up? Are you using an android with a DJI device? Or what would you like it to be?
@ItsDrDamon@crashoverride@MAGGOTisBLESSED There's a lot of issues on the DJI side that make this annoying. Different camera versions have different firmware which has different issues. For example the DJI action 6 had an audio delay of 1 second, they fixed it in a firmware update, then broke it again in the next.
@Big_E Then tell them to unlock basic features like chat so people can develop around x livestreaming. X has been talking about it for years at this point since elon did that stream on his phone, since then basically nothing meaningful has happened.
@xB4DSEED@faiqology@gnukeith 1) I didn't ask anyone to trust me
2) My community didn't die
3) My definition of dead is not number of users, it's that it became fully controlled and censored and a government tool
Not sure why you're so upset over my comment do you have an investment in reddit or something.
@Sprunk0000@gnukeith You nailed the core issue; no one is willing to switch.
There have been decent alternatives for a good few years now. But no one in the communities wants to switch, and no communities will shut down their discords to switch. It's like telling people to hop off FB/IG.
