Let me be clear about what just happened in the Karmelo Anthony verdict. Because the celebration is traveling and the discrepancies aren't.

FACT: Karmelo Anthony was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years.

FACT: The jury deliberated for less than 3 hours.

FACT: There were zero Black jurors on this jury.

FACT: The prosecution used peremptory strikes to remove 100% of eligible Black jurors while keeping a white educator after claiming they didn't want educators on the jury.

FACT: Karmelo Anthony never stood up. The confrontation happened while he was seated. Austin Metcalf was standing over him.

FACT: The jury had the option to choose manslaughter. They chose murder.

FACT: The "sudden passion" defense which would have capped the sentence at 2 to 20 years was rejected.

FACT: Karmelo Anthony's mother was the only witness called during the punishment phase. She asked for mercy. The prosecutor responded: "Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent."

FACT: Karmelo Anthony will be eligible for parole after serving half his sentence, roughly 17.5 years. He is 19 years old.

Now ask yourself, if the races and sizes were reversed, if Karmelo was 6'1" standing over a seated smaller white teenager who reached up with a knife, does this even go to trial?

You already know the answer.

Say his name. Karmelo Anthony.

🚨 “Lenient” sentence: Former mayor sentenced to just 90 days in jail after raping her son’s 16-year-old friend at a party.

Misty Roberts, the former mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana, was sentenced to 90 days in jail after being convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

The crimes happened at a July 2024 party at her home where Roberts provided alcohol to teens, including her own son and his friends. She had raped one of the 16-year-old boys upstairs in the game room. Witnesses, including her son and nephew, saw them through the blinds. The victim was drunk and later realized what had happened. Roberts told the kids to lie or be quiet about it.

A DoorDash delivery of Plan B was made to her address days later. Her ex-husband testified she admitted raping the boy and getting caught.

Judge Kent Savoie gave her five years on each charge to run concurrently but suspended the prison time. Instead she got 90 days in jail, a $5,000 fine, and five years of probation.

The judge said he did not believe Roberts took full responsibility — she minimized her actions and to some extent blamed the victim.

Prosecutors had asked for the maximum sentence and called the outcome lenient. The victim’s family described her as a predator and said the teen has suffered panic attacks, missed school, and faced ridicule.

Another elected official who preyed on a teenager gets a slap on the wrist.

Violent White Instacart worker caught on Ring camera chasing and slapping 5-year-old boy in the face during delivery

Video from a St. Augustine home shows a woman appearing to be an Instacart shopper handing a heavy case of water to a young child around 5 or 6 years old. The boy struggles with the load, drops it, and the woman chases him down before striking him in the face. Verbal berating and derogatory statements can also be heard.

The Ring camera owner posted the footage online, filed a child abuse report with police, and asked the public to help identify the woman.

Instacart stated the behavior is “alarming and completely unacceptable,” has permanently banned the shopper from the platform, and is cooperating with law enforcement.

The company noted it has strict policies against shoppers bringing unauthorized people, including children, on deliveries.

Another adult loses control and physically strikes a small child over dropped groceries.

What kind of person chases down and hits a 5- or 6-year-old for struggling with a load they made him carry?
