“At last! Schweitzer has given Edwards’ scholars and aficionados the much-needed key to typological references in Edwards’ neglected Ur text, the Blank Bible.” https://t.co/XumLm7FVKp
"The work on emblemata and the new Types Explorer are particularly promising avenues of inquiry made possible by new technologies applied to Edwards’ writings." — Kenneth P. Minkema, Editor of the Works of Jonathan Edwards, Director of the Jonathan Edwards Center, Yale University
Very Happy to see this work come to fruition! Many thanks to Gerald McDermott for the foreword and to Mark Noll, Doug Sweeney, Robert Caldwell, and Marty Martin for their recommendations. Praise God! Available now at https://t.co/XQW1jZZwwA
TYPES EXPLORER: “Edwards Among the Emblem Writers” - A new addition to the Visual Edwards Project, visualizes Edwards's notebook "Images of Divine Things" and compares and concatenates his program of natural typology with the wider emblem book genre. https://t.co/Bd4B4tXOAp
Update: The Visual Edwards project now has its own home at https://t.co/sQc3VFOJW5. There you will find a succinct description of the project, the “who, what, where, and why” of it all, a FAQ page, methodology, sample visualization downloads, a Python editor, and more.

Got my copy of the 2nd volume of the Miscellanies Companion in the mail today. In my chapter on union with Christ, I explore Edwards’s provocative remark in Misc. no. ff that the sun, moon, stars, and the entire universe “are as much the Christian’s as the money in his pocket.”
Visual Edwards update: Among several, a major update is that the project now saves and imports data in its own file format: .vje (which stands for Visual Jonathan Edwards). The project is tested on Windows 10 and runs on Python 3.7.
