Last Sunday myself and other volunteers from the Museum of Water and Steam visited Crossness Pumping Station to see the magnificent Crossness beam engine in steam. This cathedral of sewage, designed by Sir Joseph Bazelgette, cleaned up the River Thames after the 1858 Great Stink
London Museum of Water and Steam celebrated World Water Day by hosting the World Water Film Festival. Founder Robert Strand (pictured), filmmaker and environmental advocate, flew in from New York to host the event screening films that highlight human-water relationship issues
The Water Conservators City Water Debate on Nature Based Solutions was held on the eve of World Water Day. Our guest speakers included the RT Hon Ruth Kelly (pictured), Chair of Water UK
This week I visited the magnificent Merchant Taylors' hall to review their impressive progress on reducing their carbon emissions. I'm pictured below with their Clerk John Clink and Alderman Alison Gowman inspecting their rooftop solar panels
Thanks to our partners such as @Kindlewoods and @HolmeRiver and all the volunteers who collected acorns from veteran and ancient oak trees in 2022. There are now thousands of healthy saplings growing at #Leeds City Council's Arium. π± https://t.co/z7KZTZheWu
On Friday @PollinatingLT presented to @HughMyddelton school as the first part of a project to develop the green spaces at the school to increase pollinators, encourage biodiversity and learning about pollination
It was a fantastic 3 days with the @waterandsteam museum back in steam. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who worked day and night to install the new boiler and make it happen. Who knows what we can achieve for 2024 but what a great start. This is our amazing water heritage
Please consider supporting the museum on our crowdfunder. Currently all donations are being matched so your pound has double the impact! https://t.co/RNmRVi75pN
Excellent City Water Debate this evening at Bakers Hall on Water Sector Finance and Investment, speakers included Baroness Brown DBE, Cathryn Ross, Interim Co CEO, Thames Water (pictured) and Colin Skellet OBE, CEO of Wessex Water
Such a pleasure to give this talk and I can't think of a more appropriate place than the Museum of Water and Steam, once the operational centre of the Grand Junction Waterworks Co. I'm so looking forward to seeing the museum back in steam on New Year's Eve https://t.co/IM9yhmqgDf
A great turnout last night for the first in a series of new talks and tours at the Museum. A big thank you to our speaker @RobCaseyWCT. Keep an eye on our website for more upcoming events!

Fantastic to meet up with members of the Eco Council @HughMyddelton school and John Burton, chair @PollinatingLT to discuss developing the green spaces at the school. Children were enthusiastic and green spaces at schools offer amazing opportunities to increase biodiversity
It was so nice to be part of the Water Conservators team with the magic tap at the Lord Mayor's Show on Saturday. The weather was excellent and everyone had a great time
Last week the amazing team of volunteers at the London Museum of Water and Steam worked day and night in the rain to winch the new boiler from the museum car park into the museum boiler room so that we can be back in steam for the New Year
Great to see the boiler arriving to get the London Museum of Water and Steam back in steam for the New Year, with thanks to our fantastic volunteers who are making this happen https://t.co/B7yQxm7zuj
All we want for Christmas is to be in steam this coming year!
With our Lancashire boiler needing repair or even replacement, a very generous donor has bought us a second hand boiler to get us moving again asap, and to get our museum back on track.
Can you help fund it by supporting our appeal? https://t.co/my0djiivir
This will help bridge our funding gap and buy new gas, water and steam pipes, and water treatment tanks. But more importantly, it sets us up to steam on into a bright future!
