Ok, so the in-flight WiFi on @FlyAirNZ came in handy. Somewhere over the Pacific en route from Vancouver to New Zealand, I just made plans with some friends to watch the @AllBlacks World Cup match with Ireland in an Auckland pub at 8am this Sunday.

I was wrong - there is indeed WiFi on this @FlyAirNZ flight from Vancouver to Auckland. :) Looks like the pre-takeoff warning about no WiFi from the in-cabin crew was out of an abundance of caution and expectation-setting.

Just boarded a brand-new 787-9 @FlyAirNZ en route to Auckland on NZ23 from Vancouver, and learned that we won’t have WiFi. Why? I just learned from the flight crew that it was never installed. I love the Air New Zealand on-board experience but this is inexcusable and hard to believe given the quality of the company’s management team.

Wow. This is incredibly sad for anyone who’s lived in San Francisco and loved spending time downtown. The local government has flown a fully fueled jet, under control, directly into the ground at high speed. I’m not sure who to blame more - the people who ran the government - or the people who voted for them.
