@thebrickcleaner@haydenthecoach I’ve tried to evolve, shamefully, I’ve done plenty of “make 20 shots in a row in horseshoe” to only be there 25 minutes later still waiting! Like to think I’ve learned from some past errors!
@haydenthecoach@thebrickcleaner Probably depends on the balance of when you start, when the season starts, and what you’re planning.
I’ve always favoured game based conditioning for seniors, as it allowed me to get some schemes in too, but have primarily started post Xmas. I think before Xmas - have at it.
Great night of coach education with thanks to @Herbiehoops teaching over 100 passionate coaches his points on Developing Shooting. Great clinic and all coaches walked away with some fantastic direction and points to pass on to their players
@YoutahJazz I’m still there and involved, this is a newly created role to support coach education across the state - fun role with lots of opportunities to help coaches & volunteers
For anyone looking to work in the Basketball Coach Education space this is a great opportunity to make an impact - appearances on the @TalkingSplit podcast may also be included! https://t.co/Tac3OiILgg
Thanks to @ZoeCarr85 & @lono610 for assisting with the @Basketball_Vic Accelerated Women’s Coaching Program this weekend in Bendigo. Huge few days of discussion & observing the U16 Nationals, and particular thanks to @DLinoss and Jacqui O’Neill for allowing us into practice
@fintwat1 Is a fascinating topic - we have had an eye on football. The age grouping of competitions becomes prohibitive, but at some of the HP camps they loosely bio banded athletes to courts to compete with great results, but some predictable drawbacks (parents). Will work on a pod!
First saw @CoachMikeDunlap nearly 20 years ago, and still has the same incredible passion and care for the game now. Huge thanks to Mike and every coach there getting better, to @lono610 for putting this together and @BradenCotter for the chauffeur work on a big day of coach ed
The final clinic of @CoachMikeDunlap visit to Australia and coaches from @Basketball_Vic have turned out in force at Mullum Mullum! 160-plus in the building to listen to the master coach.
A CEO asked me recently, "What's the one thing we can do to grow #sportsparticipation?"
"Simple", I said.
"Invest in #coaches!"
I continued, "#Coaches are generally the people who deliver the day-to-day experience of your #sport to kids and families.
Coaches ARE the relationship between your sport and the participants.
Coaches are the CONNECTORS - they are the people who connect your sport to the kids and families you're aiming to recruit and retain.
All the marketing campaigns in the world will not work unless you've engaged the hearts and minds of the coaches who are the people in your sport's "frontline" delivering the sports experiences you'd like to see delivered".
Want more participants?
Invest in coaches and #coaching !

It’s the international sports that “get it” and do what is best for the promotion of women and girls in sport, and the viewing public as a whole. Great move Basketball Australia, and what a fantastic night of viewing on the cards!
