But since we can't guarantee that our lawmakers will follow the law, that our Attorney General will enforce the law, and that the courts will side with the people, the ballot question that we are working on this time is to subject this statehouse right behind me to the public records law. Friends, the public records law is a law that all of your city and towns have to follow.

It's a law that our office follows. It's a law that all state agencies and departments have to follow, but it's a law that the legislature and governor's office exempt themselves from. We're talking about basic taxpayer-funded receipts, documents, state contracts, procurement documents, process and procedures, all funded by the taxpayer that are being denied to you, the taxpayer. And we need to let Beacon Hill know that this is not the politician's house, but this is the people's house."
