The 2025 round of the MSCA Postdoc Fellowships launches soon, with a deadline of September 10th. If you're interested in Clostridial cell biology and looking for a host lab for your fellowship please get in touch to discuss possible projects
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowships support applicants up to 8 years post-PhD from anywhere in the world who want to spend 1-2 years working in Europe (incl. UK!). These can be a fantastic stepping stone to longer term fellowships and establishing independence
New paper alert 🚨 We've solved the complete structure of a C. difficile-infecting phage using cryo-EM, in both extended and contracted conformations - published today in Life Science Alliance
Interestingly the tail contracts less than in other characterised phages (& related contractile structures). This seems to be a feature of phage infecting bacteria that have an S-layer - given that these are likely the majority of bacteria, this is probably really common
The 2nd round of our Yorkshire Biosciences PhD programme is now open for applications - deadline March 14th. Both of our C. diff phage projects are also available in this round - details in the thread below.
