I created a machine-learning model to predict the odds that the top NCAA prospects in this year's NBA draft become all-stars at any point in their career.
What stands out?
- Rob Dillingham is awesome
- Enrique Freeman: Learn the Name

This data was gathered from Baseball Savant and is pitch by pitch data, so Intentional Walks are not included since no pitch was recorded. This is why the Yankees have more PAs listed for the 4th spot than 3rd. This may impact the team level data, but less so the league wide data
In the MLB, the best hitter usually bats 3rd. Some teams are bucking that trend and putting their best hitters 2nd or leadoff (Judge, Soto, Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, etc.)
More plate appearances means more chances to do damage. This table shows that higher in lineup has more value
Good hitters are also going to get on base or get extra base hits more often creating more impactful situations for other players in the lineup. This should be taken into account when looking at the data.
Bayern are often criticized for poaching from teams like Dortmund and Leverkusen as part of their strategy to retain dominance in Germany. However, this data indicates that a substantial part of their funds are spent on talent from abroad.
Recently, @TheAthleticFC posted a video about how Ligue 1's lack of UCL spots combined with PSG's tendency to spend their budget outside Ligue 1 prevented a "trickle down" effect helping other teams.
I wanted to see if the same pattern held for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Bayern spent, on average, 22.6% of their transfer budget within the Bundesliga over the past decade according to data from Transfermarkt.
While Bayern doesn't have quite the comparative financial advantage as PSG within their league, their domestic spend is not overwhelming.
Lastly, let's take a look at how transfer fees change based on player age. It appears relatively steady until players reach 27/28 years old and teams no longer value them as much, or they can leave on a free transfer.
How well did each Premier League team do in the transfer market this season? ๐งต
Let's start by looking at overall investment. Brighton led the way in spending and net loss on transfers, while Aston Villa spent a ton but earned even more in sales.

The best and worst transfers of the season:
Marmoush has been stealing the spotlight, but Savio has been top notch. Huijsen has justified his Real Madrid move.
Cameron Archer has massively underperformed. Archie Gray is young and can still turn it around.
Opta tracks the Elo rating of 300+ teams, which measures their relative strength. This rating shows how each club in the Premier League has fared this season.
Bournemouth and Liverpool have been impressive. The 3 promoted sides have been disappointing.

Finally, the most and least consistent Quarterbacks in fantasy football ๐
Mahomes has been playing poorly, but at least he's consistent about it!
#NFL#FantasyFootball#SportsAnalytics
Many of the least consistent RB's are on teams where the starter went down (Tracy, Mason, Ford, Bigsby, Tucker, etc.)
The most consistent has lots of heavy hitters
The most and least consistent running backs in fantasy football this year ๐
The least consistent players constantly score well above or below their weekly average. The most consistent have scores clustered around their overall average
