The Alabama Rays organization is deeply saddened and disappointed by the recent criminal allegations involving several individuals who were members of our football program.
First and foremost, we want to extend our sincere apologies to the City of Gulf Shores, its residents, local law enforcement, our supporters, our sponsors, and everyone who has welcomed our organization into this community. The trust that has been placed in us is something we do not take lightly, and we recognize the seriousness of this situation.
The actions described by law enforcement do not represent who we are or what the Alabama Rays stand for. We unequivocally condemn violence, criminal behavior, and any actions that place others at risk.
The Alabama Rays were created to provide young men with an opportunity to earn a second chance-not a free pass. Our program exists to help student-athletes continue their education, develop as responsible young men, and pursue their dream of playing college football while preparing for life beyond the game. Every player who joins our organization is expected to uphold high standards of character, accountability, respect, and integrity.
More than 70 young men are currently part of our program. The overwhelming majority came to Gulf Shores to work hard, attend school, compete on the football field, serve the community, and build a better future for themselves and their families. It is important that the actions of a few do not define the character and commitment of the many who are doing things the right way every single day.
Effective immediately, every individual identified in connection with these criminal charges has been permanently removed from the Alabama Rays organization. They are no longer members of our program and will not be permitted to return in any capacity.
We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement as needed and will use this as an opportunity to evaluate and strengthen our player screening, accountability measures, and expectations moving forward.
To the Gulf Shores community, thank you for believing in our mission and giving these young men an opportunity. We remain committed to earning your trust every day through our actions, our service, and the way we represent this city.
Our mission has not changed: to develop disciplined student-athletes, create opportunities through education and football, and help young men become productive members of their communities. We will continue that mission with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
We are praying for all those who are involved.
