Dad/Husband/Lakehead U Alumni/Mental Health Champion/Former President & CEO OPP Association/Author of "In Pursuit of Wellness in the First Responder Community"
Today I officially retire from the OPP after 30 years of service.
I want to thank my colleagues over the years at the OPP and OPPA, and especially want to thank my wife and two daughters for their unwavering support throughout my career.
As many of you know, a policing career is both rewarding and challenging.
I want to stress to everyone in the policing profession that it is ok to step up and ask for help. We see things and experience things that many would never want to see or experience.
I am especially grateful for all colleagues and stakeholders who supported the vision of the OPPA's Encompas Mental Health Wellness Program.
I sincerely hope the program is sustainable and our members and their families continue to benefit from the professional supports Encompas offers for many years to come.
With the help and support of many people both inside and outside of policing, I am very proud today on my retirement date to announce the launch of a book that I have authored, which has been professionally written by writer Laurie Stephens, "In Pursuit of Mental Wellness in the First Responder Community". I share my personal wellness journey, and am grateful for others who chose to share their journeys in the book. I sincerely hope that others can benefit from reading about these personal experiences to help them find their own path to lifelong wellness.
All proceeds of the sales of the book are being donated to S.O.L.E. (Survivors of Law Enforcement Everywhere), Boots on the Ground (First Responder Peer Support), and Canada Beyond the Blue (Peer Support for members and their families).
The book can be purchased online at https://t.co/lXzGsIayAD.
There is also a contact section on the website that anyone can email me directly to my personal email. Please feel free to reach out anytime.
Thank you everyone again for all of the support throughout my career. Take care and be safe. 🙏
Congratulations and best wishes to OPPA Director and former OPPA President Rob Jamieson and his family on his last day of work today!

It was an incredible evening last night in Ottawa at the Police Association of Ontario President's Banquet Awards Ceremony. It was a privilege to sit with Marc and his wife and see Marc honoured for his bravery.
Congratulations to OPP Provincial Constable Marc Lauzon of the Russell County Detachment on being awarded the 2025 Police Association of Ontario Police Hero Honour Roll Award at the PAO President's Banquet & Awards Ceremony in Ottawa on May 29, 2025.
On May 11, 2023, in the quiet town of Bourget, Ontario, OPP Provincial Constable Marc Lauzon found himself at the centre of a harrowing incident that would change his life and the lives of many others forever.
During this tragic event, Marc faced an unparalleled threat when he and his fellow officers were met with gunfire after being called to a residence in the middle of the night after a neighbour reported hearing a gunshot.
In the chaos, Marc’s partner, Sergeant Eric Mueller was murdered in the line of duty, a heartbreaking loss that weighs heavy on all of our hearts.
Yet amidst this tragedy, Marc's actions that day shone brightly, exemplifying the true spirit of heroism.
While others might have retreated to safety, while severely injured and bleeding out, Marc ran toward the danger, driven by a profound sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to protect his fellow officers and the community they serve.
Even after suffering life-altering injuries, Marc displayed an inspiring resilience and positivity that is nothing short of remarkable.
His willingness to sacrifice his own well-being for the sake of his partner and the safety of others is a testament to his character and dedication.
In the face of adversity, he has chosen to remain a beacon of hope and support for his community, embodying the values we all aspire to uphold.
Marc Lauzon’s actions that fateful day exemplify the grace, the courage, and the selflessness required of those who wear the uniform.
As we reflect on Marc’s bravery, let us also recommit ourselves to fostering a community of support and understanding for all those who put their lives on the line every day.
Congratulations Marc.
