CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer gave a harrowing account of the moment a shooter disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, prompting Secret Service to rush President Donald Trump away.
Very relieved everyone is safe in DC tonight. The WHCD has hosted presidents for decades. This is one of the most well-secured and well-known (to law enforcement) places in Washington. How anyone could get close to this event with a weapon is almost inconceivable.
The whca dinner is one of the most guarded and secured dinners of the entire year. Multiple security screenings at multiple levels of the hotel. Shocked a gun could even get close
Wolf Blitzer says he was "feet away" from a shooter "as he was shooting" in the lobby at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. He says he and others were then rushed into a nearby bathroom.
"Stay down!"

The U.S. Secret Service just rushed the President and First Lady off the dais at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after the sound of shots being fired was heard.
They have since reportedly been evacuated.
It’s a state of chaos here at the Hilton ballroom at the White House correspondents dinner. It appears that the threat, whatever it was, is gone. But nobody is being allowed to leave the ballroom here at the Hilton.
Temps have warmed well into the 60s this AM for much of the area. Temps will reach or exceed 70 degrees in many spots by 2pm. The warmer temps are short-lived as colder air returns behind an E flow this eve. Temps look to be 20-25 degrees colder by 8pm compared to 2pm.
