We are looking for talented engineers to join our creative and dynamic Birmingham office.
If you are passionate about great design and care about designing sustainable structures this is a fantastic #jobopportunity to join a growing team https://t.co/uRvTJLrHu8
If there was ever a project to epitomise why we love what we do + to inspire future engineers this is it! Truss No. 1 (of 16) being installed at Paradise Circus over the A38 road tunnel to unlock the city centre site and support 16 stories of the One Centenary Way building over.
4 years since we were developing the concept for One Centenary Way @ParadiseBham - looking forward to seeing the monster transfer trusses arrive on site this week to span the building over the A38 tunnel. Amazing effort by all involved to make this landmark building a reality!
It's good to be back Birmingham! Nice to be working safely from the office after 3mths. Construction has been progressing with Paradise and 103 Colmore looking good - just missing the people and the buzz. Let's hope we can find a way to get this city moving again!

Looking forward to hosting this next week where we’ll be sharing our approach to sustainable building design and how we are minimising carbon emissions through collaboration and innovation #Sustainability#architecture#engineering#greenconstruction
Great to be back in the fold @WebbYates Birmingham. If you are looking to collaborate on projects with creative, innovative, sustainability conscious engineers get in touch or drop by our office on Ludgate Hill in the #JewelleryQuarter#structuralengineering#brumarchitecture
This breakdown for Barrett’s Grove shows that the basement, only 30% of the total GIA, contributes 50% to the #EmbodiedCarbon of the structure. The project is close to achieving the RIBA 3030 Climate Challenge domestic target of 300 kgCO₂e/m² thanks to the CLT superstructure
As 2020 kicks off I’m wrapping up 5 great years at Arup and excited to be starting a new adventure in Brum. Here are some of my favourite projects from the last 5 yrs. Looking forward to more elegant, efficient and low carbon structural design in the new year! Watch this space...
@Feltip1982@ParadiseBham Each truss weighs about 70 tonnes and they’ll be delivered and lifted in as single fabricated elements 4.5m deep and up to 30 long.
As construction starts on One Centenary Way @ParadiseBham here’s the construction sequence sketched out to show how we are building this stunning 16 storey structure over the A38 tunnel. #engineering#sketch#birmingham
Nearly 3yrs in the making great news to see construction starting on 1CW @ParadiseBham. Can’t wait to see the construction unfold - first up bearing piles into sandstone as close as 1.5m either side of the A38 tunnel to support the 30m spanning transfer trusses!
Phase Two of Paradise has begun with the start of construction of One Centenary Way, an innovative landmark building designed by @GlennHowells. @WeAreMcAlpine has been appointed to bring its civil engineering expertise to deliver the exposed steel frame.

The ‘Social Shell’ Pavillion coming together for @UK_CW. Parametrically designed and CNC cut from plywood it was developed from the winning student concept from the @scale_rule#NextGenerationDesign workshop held in Nottingham last year. @ArupUKIMEA @leonard_design
Double success for Ingenuity house last night picking up the @BCO_UK Innovation Award and receiving a Commendation at the Steel Design Awards #SSDA. Great recognition for great project + a truly collaborative effort. @ArupUKIMEA @SheppardRobson@BillingtonSteel
